Brake Pedal - Foot over or under?

My brakes are on the right hand bar, but that only works the front,............................................ .................................................. ........................................

I always have to lift my foot,but I tend to set my bikes up for standing,and the pedal needs to be higher then....I think.

When I first started riding (19 years ago), I used to kind of let it hover over the top, but it puts a lot of stress on the foot. On a ride when we stopped the bloke behind me said that when I was going down hill the brake light flickered on and off when I wasn't using it, since then it has always been to the side but under slightly.

Going downhill I tend to hover my foot over the brake pedel aswell as all four fingers resting on the front brake lever. But that's just cause I hate downhills. Hate it when engine braking is not effective. Love up hills though lol.
