    whats this road like?

    Hi

Whats the road from Pukekohe down to Te Uku like for a ride? I'm familiar with it as far s Glen Murray[in a cage] looks like a good ride down to Raglan that way, just after peoples opinions that have rode that way.

    cheers

I ride it all the time - I don't take the ''soft'' route to Ngaurawhia, the lower SH22 has one short spot of gravel and some road works for sealing...you'll love it!

I always take that bit when I go down SH22. It is the REAL SH22. When i was down there a month or so ago it was pretty heavy - lots of loose gravel, badly mounded and rutted , quite challenging. Definiately give it a miss if you're a sprotbiker - good fun if you aren't scared of rough stuff.

rode it yesterday with zed. a few rough spots but no gravel that i can remember, there was some dirt from the side of the road that was washed on to the road but that was it. great ride, nice road got to ngaurawhia, filled up the tank, headed down to raglan for some lunch and went the same way except we turned of and went huntly and tuakau way back to auckland.
Its all about the game and how you play it.

H/way 22 turns off just b4 Waiganro springs, and leads to Raglin there is a bit of metal down that way, but no problem to sports bikes, just take it easy, a great ride.

The only reason I only ride in the Iron man Class is I have no friends left to enter the two man events,
    my own fault really.

Yep. The REAL SH22 terminates at Te Uku. They realigned the road, to stick on SH22 now you actuallly have to make a right hand turn. You guys (except me and Mr Motu) all actually exit SH22 early .

I went up as far as Pokeno then went across to the road that runs up the eastern side of the Hunua range on Christmas Eve.
No gravel that I recall, just the two fairly brief lots of roadworks at the southern end.

Thanks again to the guys that gave me up to date info.

Last time I went up there the whole road was unsealed and nothing but manuka beside the road (in places almost meeting over the road).

    Quite prosperous looking now...

So where do you wind up if you don't exit early, by the sub station on the Raglan Road?
