My vote's the SV or TL. Either way you could get the half fairing version. Not as much plastic to damage but enough to cut down buffeting.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.

    we will remember them

Welcome back CaN, so they wrote your Bird off huh! O well, that's a positive outcome really, sounds like it's time to visit some bike shops and go test riding...once your butt gets better that is!

I liked the suggestion by leenok to go for the nakid X11 but not sure about availablility in NZ? Even the CB1300 might be a go.

some very well priced CB1300's on the market atm - brand new at boyd honda/botany from around $13k. they are awesome naked machines. nearly bought one instead of the busa actually - stonking strong engines, fun track day machgine, all day tourer with a little givi screen fitted.

I concur on the X11 but they are rare as rocking horse shit, so not sure I am going to wait for a good example to turn up.

Too lazy to read back, but have you considered the Kawasaki Z1000 as well?

There's one for sale on trademe, it's been for sale for a while so you should be able to get a reasonable deal on it. They are a naked Blackbird tuned for more torque so they go quite nicely!

I was thinking down the lines of a compromise and get a half faired/bikini faired bike, like the FZ1 as mentioned above. I was quoted heaps on mine when I had my off as well.
I personally wouldn't go to a naked bike again. Been there, done that.

where opinion holds more weight than fact.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

I THINK arse baron has an ex demo 05 sv1000 in silver with just over 1000kms on the clock for pretty cheap... one of my workmates was going nuts over it.

    Check it out!

And yeah.. what gareth said - z1000... gotta love the quad exhaust look

edit: Good to hear you are back up and 'running' so to speak CaN!
