They are completely different and the BOTY os essentially a waste of time for this reason. To nominate only one is crazy, to be done properly it needs to be by type for example
    Best tourer Triump ST1050
    Best Sportsbike 1000cc ZXR1000
    Best Sportsbike 600cc ZXR636
    Best bike under 600 cc
    Best Dirt Bike KX250
Best small bike Hyosung comet 250

Or whatever, to name on is silly and quite meaningless for all those that dont ride in that particular segment of bike.
    like this

Very true. And knowing that a 1000cc sprotsbike won BOTY is quite unhelpful if one is trying to decide on a choice of a 250cc MX bike. Of course, in some cases the category may be implicit in the nature of the judging panel - one may assume that the judges of MotoX Weekly would not select the 1000cc sprotsbike. So , to be menaingful one must know WHOSE BOTY

(Unfortunately , I have not been able to track down a copy of Nana Rider's Weekly to find what they chose as BOTY)

I thought it was pretty 'meh' when I saw the pics. Then I saw it in person and loved it. Nice chunky engine. I'd have one, but maybe with the stage 1 or 2 kit on it.

The Triumph ST1050 a "tourer"? I suppose inasmuch as the Blackbird, Hirebus and ZX12 are "tourers" it can lay claim. But really these four are just stretched sprotsbikes and not something designed to eat 600+ km a day, after day, after day (my definition of "tourer").

Motorad & TSS have one on their showroom floors.

I know a guy up in Palmy that has one, he took it on the Coast to Coast last year and the number of people that gathered around it was incredible.

I personally think they're pretty cool, I haven't riden one so can't comment on the handling but in the world of standards that we live in...it's nice to see a company that has the balls to be different.
Imagine if all we had to look forward to in the future was GSXRs/R1s/CBRs/ZXxxRs or the Harleys and look alikes etc.

Sounds like a trip to TSS is in order. I have been in Motorad/Sawyers on a weekly basis recently and haven't seen it. Maybe I'm going blind. Or something. I've seen the promo banner on the Sawyers side of the shop but nothing much else in the new Yamaha line except a couple of trailies.

I saw it in Motorad just before Xmas, and TSS last weekend.

    Hi ..
I have Yamaha MT-01 for few weeks now. I would not swap it for anything! It is very good bike, incredibly stable and quick in corners for the weight and size!
If you wille have an opportunity, take it for test ride!
I used to ride bandit 1200, Vmax, GSXR,Monster 900, honda cb750 and cagiva canyon. MT is far the best of these!!

A little blue kiwi bird told me that there's a run-out special on the 2007 MT-01

Only $18,000 plus ORC and it can be yours.

If I hadn't just bought a Ducati, I'd seriously think about getting an MT-01. It has torque in spades.
