    sorry caps,

anyways why do cops continue to ignore some common sense, surely in this case a quick call to the call center would of confirmed R1 ones previous call.

If ones windscreen is knocked out, how does one get to the repair shop??

I also hate cops giving out tickets they know to be rather dodgy and saying just let the courts settle it out, going to court costs lots of money, and most of the time you turn up all lawyered up and your case just gets put off another month or two, and do they ever give you back the costs of lost work revenue and laywers fee if the cops are proved wrong?

Well lets see now. It was raining and 10.30 at night. I had my 14 year old in the car. I am 38 not 18. I was told to go to the station and report it by the call center. It was my wifes car not mine. I was in town when it happened. I had to get the car home somehow. It was still driveable and all the lights and indicators worked (i checked). I was pulled because its a SKYLINE and the boy racers love them here so the cops hate them.

So you weren't on your way in to report it, as told to, then? (CHCH has a 24hr front counter, don't they?)

Not stirrin here R1, but if it went the way you've said above, write in about it...nothin to loose. Only problem though could be the fact that you drove in to town in it as it was, WOF/REG out and all...

You obviously havn't bothered to read my whole post on the issue. It bloody well was regod and wofed at the time.

Yes it was parked in town when it happened. I was at a function. I never made it to the station before being pulled over. I had phoned the call center from the function in town to report it and was told to bring it to the station as noone could come to me. It WAS (and still is) regoed and wofed at the time but since some ass had broken the windscreen it was not "displayed in the correct manner". Hence the ticket.

See this goes back to you guys sticking together dispite the overwelming evedence to support my case. You say i have nothing to loose but i am already facing $600 in fines and $600 in costs. How much more should i put up with? I have already written in and phoned them as well.

Apologies R1...misread the story, but hey, I am of lower than average intelligence

    After a re-read, I don't think there is a problem.

Go in and speak to the Senior Sergeant or the officer in charge of traffic... outline the situation (windscreen smashed, no cops available/report it to the station, next cop seen on way home stops you and then tickets you for smashed windscreen and FAILING TO DISPLAY (that is the important bit I missed...) WOF and REG.

Let Snr Sgt know you lost your rag too at the cop - that shows you're up front and not covering anything in the story. Point out how you felt "re-victimised" by the cop in being ticketed because some shite damaged your car, (which was actually reg and woffed and a check on the registration at the time would have shown the cop this...)

I don't bet often, but the beer is on this one going away...

BTW... it is not a case of siding with them no matter what... this was a case of my mis-reading the situation... I do that sometimes... coz

The situation, as you have described, is just wrong and should just not happen for obvious reasons.
