Thread: MY big day out

  1. #16
Yeah,it's the Coles that do them.I'm not sure if all have the staggerd crank, some sounded ''flat'',some were screaming.I don't know if it would be that important for a 3TA,they are not struggling for traction or anything, just screaming their nuts off. I think there were some ISDT bikes converted to 270 cranks.I converted my Rickman to ISDT specs, with 360 crank (low comp,3TA cams and single 26mm carb) but it was too gutless - I really liked the chainsaw Daytona spec motor,it was more like a 2 stroke off road, but with enough punch to spin up the rear wheel in any gear from idle. The 350s are prefered for trials use because of the softer power.

Yup I Had a 3ta , and you coulnt give them away , nice smooth little bike
But they were over shadowed by the 500 , ( and thats another thing the 500 is a better bike than the 750 , but look at the prices , they want Moondust for the 750 while tthe 500 are still cheap ,,,( ish)
I had heaps of bits lying around for that thing , all gone to the big breakers in the sky now

Can someone tell me what that streamliner is? Saw 'Worlds Fastest Indian' on Saturday, brilliant story, great old cars and speed record cars as props. I loved it!

If you're talking about the one in RiffRaffs photos it is Phill Garretts Land speed sidecar thingy http://www.goflyingkiwi.co.nz/

Thanks for that! Bloody amazing thing, eh? It's odd that the record rules obviously don't require a passenger in/on a sidecar.
This whole record attempt thing has me interested since I saw 'Indian'. There's so much more to racing than just going around a track, eh? I think Britten had a go at some records once, didn't they? I need to read Hanna's book again. And buy his (new?) book on Burt Munro too when I'm home next week.

You can run 60kg of ballast instead of a passenger

There are always Scotts there! And they go bloody fast for an ancient 2 stroke.Scott had the 2 stroke sorted decades ahead of it's time...wrong place, wrong time,a classic case of what might of been.
