Doing dumb stuff on the road doesn't help media (and the general populations) perception. What I find strange though is the reporting of bike fatalities in that its really big news and yet with car fatalities, well, we've come to expect them and they aren't given the same coverage unless really bad. I won't say bias but more one of sensationalism.

Media or not I guess the main thing is what was being done so should we really be complaining about Media coverage.......

Media perception of motorcycling. (the topic I believe)
Someone posted a very perceptive view that we (bikers in general) have become "middle aged and reponsible"... and the boy ricers in their souped-up jappa 1200cc cages with the baked-bean-can for an exhaust, are now the "hoons" who attract all the negative media.
With the advent of the mini-bikes (even being given away at supermarkets with promotional offers...) the potential exists for the pendulum to swing back towards us as being the "baddies" once again.
With people getting a minibike tending to be in the younger age bracket for several reasons such as price, cost of running that size bike, image, and (obviously) FUN! we also get the level of maturity as well. Our collective image in the media comes from all areas of biking.
Perhaps a phonecall to John Campbell to suggest an article on the fundraising by bikers is a very sensible idea.

TV ONE coverage was failry good... they said there was a 5km long stretch of motorbikes stretching from Queen St all the way across the Harbour Bridge at one point, and they showed an aerial shot of the two northbound clip on lanes covered in bikes. Twas quite a sight... wish I was there
