The most NERV RACKING 15 mins i have ever had on a bike

Ok well I went to a friends place lastnight to watch some dvd's. Was abit later after them so i crashed out there. I was going to get up at 7:30am to ride home to have a shower and get changed for work but slept in.

Look at my watch i am like crap almost 8am more traffic to deal with. No biggie done it heaps of times befor.

So off i go on my way traffic is not to bad. Come up to the set of lights on EllIcot road turning right heading to Green wood street. I am at the front of the traffic. Light goes green nost most the time as sson as that light goes green I am off like a flash. But for some strage reason i pissed round abit this time and the next thing I see is two TRUCKS go screeming past on a RED.
I was like CRAP had this PIC in my mind of me and my bike getting sent for 6. The big guy up top must like me.

So i ride off taking it easy after that. But wait there is still more to come.
heading down K Drive doing about 65k's in a 60 not to bad we all do that.
see one car pull out up ahead of me thats ok with me i am ages away but what was not ok. Was the person behind them who followed and did not even look. I am on both brakes. The road is a bit cold and the back end had picked up abit becound i was on the front HARD. Crap back wheel locks up off the back brake and back on it again. Crap same thing locked up again. back end is sliding all over the show. Still hard on the front brakes and stop about 20cm away from the side of her car. Pulled up next to the lady and gave her the big F*%K YOU B%*$H WHAT THE F*^K WERE YOU UP TO. pull up at the set of lights just after that and I am like AHHHHHHHH CRAP THAT WAS LUCKY.
young guy in a small truck pulls up next to me and looks at me like he saw the whole thing from behind me.

Yup, they suck. Nearly got squashed by some pleb in a 4wd on the way home who decided he didnt like the look of the queue getting on the mway so might as well use the lane next door cause its nearly empty (bar some annoying motorbike, never mind, he'll get out of the way). Still, it happens, you just gotta watch out for it and move on.

Truck running the red light thing... well I was waiting at the bottom of Nelson St with a truck on my right so I couldn't see what was coming from that direction... The Truck driver actually saved my life, he could see the lights about to change and could also see the car coming from the right that was heading for a red-light run. He blasted his horn to get my attention. I looked at him instead of leaping off the mark and seconds later the car passed by. I gave him a big thumbs up and he grinned and waved. Good karma coming his way...

truckies know what it's like to have to put up with numb-nuts drivers, day in day out. although, those two that ran the red light sound a bit numb-nutsish themselves...

Nice BB... some are good buggers out there. Had a couple remind me I had my left indicator on recently. They were in front and on the highway, and saw my potential problem, so lit up their indicators in the middle of nowhere, which made me think what is going on, to realise my big mistake as I approached an intersection with waiting traffic on my left...

I did something similar but less trouser filling this morning....

Was gently filtering through stopped traffic and finally got to the front. Just as I was there the lights go green. "Great" thinks I "no need to stop, foot down, neutral, all that bollocks" and give it a bit to put some space between me and the cars on the front row - particularly since the two rows of traffic merge into one just after the junction.

I get to the other side and the utter stupidity hits me - what if a truck had jumped the lights? I didn't head check for *shit*, I was nowhere near being able to stop if something had gone to custard.... all in all I was alive by luck rather than management (which is a situation I'm trying to avoid).

F*ck, I need to get me some experience.

I drive a truck for a living and have worn out a few trucks in my day, plus of course when I can I like to ride my scooter too. As for trucks running red lights, this is a problem of course, but if the truck is up to maximum weight [44 tonne] and he strikes a fast changing set of lights, for a Truckee it’s a tough call to try and get stopped in time plus running the risk of his load flying through the cab if the chassis bolts decide to snap. 9x out of 10 if I do decide to stop I’ll stop half way across the intersection anyway. Most lights are fine, but some change very fast, ok for a car or bike, but difficult for a fully loaded truck. So, if you do have a green light, it might not be safe. Most of us try and be as safe as we can, but being on the road all the time doing 700-1000kms a day there’s always that chance that like most people in life, we might end up having one of those bad days too.

on the flip side of this though, my LH mirror (on my car) was clipped - luckily/unbelieveably not broken - by a fuckwit on a CB650 or similar lanesplitting at speed (estimate 40km/h) through crawling traffic in spagetti junction this afternoon.

cage drivers are not the only dickheads on the road.
