It's surprisingly easy, especially at older servos where the pumps don't have the lock thingy and they ahve those pumps with two types of fuel in the one pumpy thing. .If the pump has Super petrol on one side, and the other hose is diesel. I've done it, glanced at the pump - "uh super that end, I want regular (or vise versa)" grabbed the hose from the other side of the pump, and then stared at it thinbking "Something wrong - what is it - Ohhhhhhhh , yeah"

Bummer mate! I'm paranoid it'll happen to me one day! Just one moment of brain fade and Murphy will get you! I double check the pump and I even see where the hose comes from at times! Senility has its down side...

I used to pump gas and at least once a year I put diesel in a petrol or petrol in a diesel (8 hours on a busy forecourt permanently suckin' in the fumes can do awful things to your concentration) but I've never heard of diesel in a bike, that's heavy right there.

At the gas station I go to you know you are at the diesel pump by the sea of slippery black residue on the ground surrounding it - great for going arse over tit

ive never put deisel into the wrong vehicle....i make sure a i double check whats where first....the main site im at...the first 2 pumps are 91, then the gas bottle lpg, then 95/91...other side is car lpg, then 19/diesel/95. tricky when your first starting...i have however put 95 in instead of 91 and viceversa...but ya dont tell the customer and they dont really notice. if they do, it likely wont make much difference anyway.

good on the attendant for helping you out though...i wouldnt know what to do other than call a towie or something!

Either way round incorrectly can be very bad. Even this way with diesel in a petrol, as it ends up bore washing and filling the sump with diesel; diluting the oil. Not good, though im sure if it was very little it would be ok. Ive seen it in large quantities wreck an engine from lack of lubrication and literally a full sump till it blew huge amounts of black smoke as it pumped diesely oil up the breather straight into the engine...

Petrol in a diesels a no brainer; its not a good lubricant for the extreme pressures in a fuel injection pump, and it cooks the nozzles in the injectors in no time flat.
