Whilst the use in helmets is debateable (we want a compressible lining to absorb the shock not one that hardens on impact) I can see a use for these in boot linings. To provide a boot that is soft and flexible in normal use but hard and rigid, to protect the leg, on impact. Possibly as panels in jackets and leggings also.

However if they worked as well as a normal helmet (though they never would) you could bet your house Rossi would be the first to wear one.
