    Got in a fight.

    The road won : (

And not but 30 seconds earlier I was congratulating myself on my incredible ability to go through nearly a year of newbie riding without coming off too.
The little FXR came out reasonably ok with only a little cosmetic damage thanks to its incredible flexo-fairings which managed to stay together, but the engine packed a sad and didnt want to start anymore.
Still cant work out how exactly it happened though. Was straightening up after coming through the Greville Road roundabout when the front wheel just shot out from under me and frankly, ruined my morning.
Anyway, made it to uni on time and afterwards a friend helped to get it going again so she lives on with few odd noises and in need of a new brake lever and some new fluid.
    and some new tyres.

Anyone know of a friendly mechanic on the shore who can check her out for me and make sure she's ok for my restricted test on the 7th?

I rode it home ok (rather gingerly) with said friend following close behind after we got it started. It seems to run ok but im sure half a brake lever isnt quite WOF standard : (
    Over-confidence was killed instantly though.

Depends on. If the lever is just shortened , but still usable, then it should be OK for a WoF.

Thats not good mate. Im glad you could walk away from it. Those fxrs are pretty tough bikes. Im sure if you went into any of the bike shops on barrys point road and explained the situation they will help you out. Cast an eye and ear over it for ya.

Did it happen on the roundabout down by the motorway? Thats a nasty one because its WAY off camber.

I go to Spectrum Motorcycles on Des Swan Drive in Takapuna. There is also the Suzuki place, is it holeshot?

Brent/Greg have seen me right over three bikes, two of them RG 150 types. They generally do trail bikes, but service road bikes too. Generally not a issue to get a service in a timely manner.

Always been straight up with me.

Glad no serious injury, just pride dented it seems. Must have good gear yeah?

Ditto on all points. Glad you're okay, and Spectrum is a pretty good mechanic shop.

yeah, I always use Spectrum for my bike...

Try Atomic Wreckers just down the road for a lever if they haven't got any (which I doubt, cos they don't really break bikes..)

I can still fit two fingers on it, but i dont fancy my chances with the testing officer..

Yup. My old man works for the roading division of the shore city council too. Maybe for my birthday he can fix it.

Jacket gained a few patches and the helmet survived without having to do its job, the jeans of ultimate protection didnt do their job though. I'd post some pictures of my small patch of manly road rash but I landed on my phone.
