Just a quick suggestion for you.

I had a similar breakdown at the Puhoi Pub last year on my K5 with the FI light on, not the worst place to have to wait 3 hours mind you, and it was the same problem.

Funny thing was it would start and run fine with my spare key and it appeared that the issue was that the ECU/Immobiliser unit was failing to recognise the chip in my main key. Anyway, try both keys and let me know if it solves anything.

Of course I solved having to wait for parts by just writing the bike off and getting a K6. No problems, bike related, yet.. Touch my wood.

Eeek. Do these modern bikes have that damn silly system with chips in the key? Dodgy unreliable technology that is.

That settles it, I'm sticking with the old bangers. Simple, straightforward. Why did we ever abandon the Lucas K2F magneto. Most relaible ignition system ever.

The local Yamaha dealer has often got bits for me in from Oz when his puter has told him they are there and it take 3-5 days, Suzuki down here if it is not in NZ then it's always ex Japan and up to 10 working days

You're right Ix, no immobilisers and they still don't get stolen...maybe you're on to something here...
