Off Road Manners

Is it usual manners for you motocross types to ride your machines in public parks?

Took the dog for the daily walk in Big King Reserve here in Auckland and who should I come across but some prick on a shit box ex dairy farmers bike fanging it around the park. Took it upon myself to warn him it was a urban park with families and small children walking the household mutt and got a hearty "Fuck off and take your poodle with you" in response (he clearly does not know his dogs).

Is this a normal attitude or was he an exceptional cocksucker?

Pretty normal for people who ride in parks....as a kid he was probably a skateboarder who expected pedestrians to leap out of his way as he blasted through shopping centers.Finaly achieving 2 wheels he could then force people off footpaths and onto the grass or road.It was his parents fault of course....but you can blame the Labour Government too if you like.

Funny how we find it pretty offensive how guys on nasty dirt bikes ride stupidly in inappropriate places like public parks.

Not so funny when 'other' people find it offensive when we ride inappropriately on race track replica's in public places like... well the highway...

Just a thought!

You didn't look at what I ride, did you Paul? All noise, little speed

Plus a road is a defined area, as opposed to a rolling park with trees etc.

Lucky you weren't around when I was a teenager - we rode our trail bikes on all of Aucklands volcano's,even Mt Eden and One Tree Hill...but Mt Richmond was our favortite.Go up there now and you'll still see the tracks we made leaping in and out of the kumara pits,hill climbs up the crater sides.Anti social was one of the requirments of being a motorcyclist.....you are all so PC now....

Was the young fella actually doing any harm? Yeah yeah he was prolly making a bit of noise, and messing up the grass. It'll grow back. And I doubt there was any likelihood of him hitting anyone - or dogs. Were you not once young ?

Perhaps if I read it again...... nope still dont see it.
Ok he was a bit rude to you and all BUT, give the boy his credit, he was in a park, not on a road.
He was being at least moderately considerate of other users, or you would have said so.
And he was sticking up for his right to have a bit of fun and not destroy property, steal, drug up or generally be a complete fuck up.
What reaction did you expect exactly?
Gee thanks mister, I will go lock it up at home and never ride again.
Maybe if you had told him of a better place or suggested some way to improve his riding skills you might have got a different reaction, then again maybe not.

Alarmingly this guy was late forties - don't mind little fellas on their small bikes, had one myself in fact.

Noise doesn't matter - the dogs make a cacophony themselves. My worry is the bike coming over a berm and collecting a kid.

Not a boy - if he was I would have done exactly as you describe. In fact I probably would have asked for a ride myself.

Simple fact was I wanted to make sure this 40ish man knew there were other park users and to watch out for them. Didn't tell him to leave.

We ride our pit bikes all over the place, mostly parks and construction areas.
Its harder to find places to ride close to home these days (for a REAL dirtbike), thats why we got the little bikes - to go ride wherever the fuck we want

growing up, there was HEAPS of places to ride. But over the years, Joe public complained and whinged about it, at one stage even put nail traps down to get bikers. Now that I can afford the toys I want, there is NO WHERE to go. Does not matter what you do these days, or what you do. There allways will be at least one person who thinks its well in their right to complain about what your doing. If there was a place in New Plymouth that I could go, when Im not shift working then Id be stoked. But no such luck. As for walking your dog in a public park? How selfish, get out of his way as hes working on a lap record, didnt ya know?

You never break the law? Go walk your mutt elsewhere

The stuff you could get away with when I was a kid was no particular big thing, just people have the need to blow it outta proportion these days. Blame the Government? Nope, blame yourselves... If I saw this, Id probably go and get the DRZ and give him a race

1. Big King Reserve is one of the few designated Dog Exercise areas left in Auckland so I WILL walk my dog there you ignoramus
2. The only place I complained was on this site so I doubt further legislation will occur. Is that what you consider as blowing it out of proportion?
3. This guys activity was not an issue, but his attitude was. Clearly you agree with this type of attitude, so it is people like you that spoil it for everyone else by fucking off moderate thinking people like me.

Getting a tad upset because someone disagrees with you? Funny how that occurs. Yea I red repped you, would do it again if I could but it won't let me. You speak of attitudes? You certianly don't lead by example. Moderate people like you, thats a funny one... Funny how they have places where you can take your dogs, horses whatever, except for bikes. Dunno about your area, but thats the way it is here. Finally, by all means do have an opinion, but dont spit the dummy because you find people who disagree with you. From reading your posts on the matter, I doubt if you was polite to the rider in mention. Maybe that had something to do with the reply you recieved? Yea perhaps the rider should not have been there, but then again, who actually decides who can be and what can happen...

Go walk ya dog and calm down as your attitude aint any different. Thats my issue.
