I subscribe to Kiwi Rider and have never bought BRM and I guess I'll stay that way. I'm a road and dirt guy so like both in my mag.
    Cheers

hmm iv had BRM since their first released.....
but to compare the two well i aint going there...
i choose between 2 - 3 mags & like them all for different reasons, articals at the time (sometimes just for the center-fold)
asked Mom if I was a gifted child ... she said they certainly wouldn't have paid for me.

Neither one has in depth articles on maintaining girder front ends or adds for useful riding clobber like PVC macs, flat caps and goggles. I wrote a letter extolling the virtues of hand shifting as well but neither printed it!

bah! Probably communists the both of them!

The only copy of BRM I ever saw had a test that compared a R1150GS to a ZX750. Initially I figured that such a stupid combination must have been an elaborate piss-take, but no, they were straight up.

    Bunch of amateurs...

But Kiwi Rider already has diversity.

The two are hard to compare, having quite different approaches.
Me, I like 'em both, and subscribe to both. I also get Two Wheels every month, which is different again. The variety is good - I would hate to see either mag disappear.
ACC - It's where the Enron accountants all went.

Yep, me too..I reckon the NZ mags are pretty lame and wouldn't waste my money one any of them.

Gimme a Performance Bikes or Superbike anyday.

Now, goggles, that would be good. I'm still trying to find a pair of Mk VIIIs at a reasonable price.

Hand shifting, I never could get the hang of it. How do you overcome the throttle closing problem ? I tried with a twist grip, and with a throttle lever, but never felt comfortable with either. I suppose a throttle lock is one answer, but I never liked those too much either.

I have some articles about maintaining girder forks somewhere, the main thing (other than making sure they are straight in all dimensions, and not twisted - easily overlooked, that last one ) is to line ream the bushes. Modern Oilite bushes give much better results I under stand than the originals, but be sure to soak them in oil for 48 hours before fitting.

EDIT: There y'go Messrs Chris and Dave, couple of good ideas for articles there.

Don't buy either. But read both. They're ok.

Im with the general here, take what you want from each thing. Hells bells, you can even choose to read the bits you want in the supermarket and then put the mag back on the shelf

I suscribe to BRM, and occasionally buy KR. BRM concentrates on road riding, and that is my focus these days. KR has both dirt and road articles, but in my opinion has less value for money in that it tries to do too much.
    Time to ride

I subscribe to and enjoy reading both of them.
The only comment I have about Kiwi Rider is that I prefered it when Bike Trader was a separate magazine and not bound in like it is now.

I haven't read either but I like...motorcycle Trader and Heavy duty(oz cruiser/harley/chopper) mag. I only have so much money to spend on magazines and most mags are over $10, so until I get deeper pockets or the magazines drop their prices I doubt I'll be buying anymore than that.
