    Crossings 'No overtaking lines'....whoops

Well you know how it is, just came off the passing lane on SH1....the traffic ahead was slow so I just let my speed carry me past.....there was space to keep on my side but yesterday was a little blowy old chap so crossed those yellow thingies to keep away from cars.

Pulled back in, and I dunno, a few minutes later hear and see a red unmarked cop car...."Oh Dear" I said to myself.....so I pulled over.

Seems he was after another guy ahead of me who had undertaken at some silly speed and told me that if I had not stopped he would not have been bothered...........seems that in chasing the other guy he saw me.

Anyway, really nice guy....said I was not riding dangerously, only did me for one of the 2 times I did the yellow thingies, had a chat with me and Jules, shook hands and off we went........

    No points just a $150 fine.....cool.

He confirmed that they check out the forum and did say that some members talk some shit and that there had been a few motorbikes accidents in the area recently.

Anyway, I don't care about the ticket....had a great ride starting in the rain....and well just shows that not all cops are !@#$ers.....Gixxer, Lou and Winja

Oh for goodness sake SimJen, Graham broke the law and unlike a big chunk of the crybabies on kiwibiker, he took his medicine AND managed to see the good in the bloke writing the ticket.

You've been quiet lately KYBoy.... You got other things to occupy your time now?

Make sure you stay on the right side of law - you naughty boy!

Well, seems the cop admitted that Mr Grahameeboy's law breaking was not dangerous. And that he (the cop) did not even intend to stop him(Mr Grahameeboy).

But, in order to ticket Mr Grahameeboy he (the cop) abandoned a pursuit of another vehicle which had also broken the law,and that in an apparently most dangerous fashion ("undertaking at a silly speed").

So the cop preferred to dish out a ticket for admittedly non-dangerous law breaking rather than pursue dangerous law breaking.

Yep, good guy. Grab the easy quota, eh.

EDIT: I would once have been more censorious of crossing yellow lines. But since the insane yellow line maniac has started painting them on every bit of road he can find, regardless of whether or not they are needed or appropriate , I have come to regard crossing them in the same light as a parking ticket. It means nothing, if you get caught it's just part of the tax cost of running a vehicle.

Yes he broke the law but....If he hadn't immediately pulled over he wouldn't have got the ticket. Perhaps next time he won't.
Why would the cop say he wouldn't have bothered but still gave a ticket anyway?
I wouldn't call that a nice guy. If he was nice, he would have let him off with a warning
Mind you he could of walked around the bike and given you tickets for other stuff if he was a wanker.

Bugger re the ticket but the attitude's a goodun'

Yeah, the cops are just doing a job, and most of 'em are pretty good. There's a few dickheads of course (as with any groups) but we all know it (including the cops)

No he got the other guy too........he got the book thrown at him........we both pulled over and at the time I was not sure so stopped...........cop was just being nice.....you know PR stuff...............I was just in the wrong place at wrong time.......

I only crossed the lines cause it was very windy...I could have kept right side but had Jules on back and didn't want to get too close to cars......$150 is a small price to pay.....

Yep...where we stopped there was a bend with yellows and the cop explained that there had been a few bike accidents there dues to crossing the yellows.

Im not on a "negative cloud" as you so beautifully put it
and WTF is a cleansing day? sounds like shit to me.
Cops giving tickets for something they say they wouldn't have usually bothered for, is still a pain in the ass.
If you have trouble in the wind, then perhaps you shouldn't have been overtaking anyway. What if the wind blew you into an oncoming car/truck hugging the centreline? Then you'd be the one on the "Negative Cloud"

Grahame, I think that you did the right thing by pulling over in that situation.

I'm interested to know more about the police checking this website though.
