I don't believe it. I know for a fact that motor vehicles always crash or explode like bombs at speeds above 110kph. It *must* be true because I saw it on a LTSA informational advertisment. And they would not lie to us, now would they.

    Didn't need to.
If the traffic was all doing 115,he just got a reading off something easy, say an SUV.And then pulled the bike over.
There has to be a representative number of bikes pulled to meet the quota.

Just to add my 2 cents worth. The part which pisses me off with this kind of policing is that when I did my full car licence test I was admonished by the testing officer for NOT keeping up with the flow of traffic which was travelling well over the posted speed limit. This after being told by my mates not to exceed the limit when doing the test as I would instantly be failed.

I did pass the test after all, but the point is that travelling at the posted speed limit on a bike can be dangerous if you constantly have aggro cagers tailgating you because you're going slower than they want to.

Is this a piss-take or a mindless rambling on an urban myth??

I'll let you know if I EVER get such a quota.

Hardly surprising to get a ticket at that speed. But the comments are a load of cobblers. May or may not have been dangerous depending on circumstances.

You would hardly expect them to say "Mehh, going a bit quick but probably wasn't dangerous though" would you???

Well, I spent five (5!) days riding (for nearly 1200km!!) around the Far North, and saw two (2) policeman: one was sitting on the straight near Waipu with his radar thingie. I was doing just over 100 at the time. The other was in an unmarked green Falcadore giving a Ducati rider a ticket at the Wellsford end of SH16.
But, apart from a few (like less than 6) instances of ThrottleHandSilliness, I was sticking mostly to the speed limits anyway.

I have no (current) beefs with the Pleeces.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Usually have a few copies laying around but only to hand out to the losers that we wind up, its a good way to win friends and influence people.

When I had my window smashed in Taupo, the motel owner called the cops. I said not to bother as they couldn't / wouldn't do jack anyway. He said they didn't have any available units and could I wait around for a couple of hours. I don't think so Tim. Off I went and within 300 metres of the motel, a cop was ticketing someone and within 1 k saw a cop doing the welfare run.

Anyway, I felt much better after I beat up a streetkid in Feilding.

I did over 3000kms down to queenstown and back and saw a few cops pulling over people but luckily none were around when we decided to up the pace but then again we were in the middle of no where,

I did notice a few things about NZ drivers on the trip though, almost everyone in wellington is a boy racer and will race you if you pass them, even if they have their whole family in the van they'll go past 140 to stop you from passing them

Drivers in the south island are generaly nicer, the amount of people that will indicate and pull over to let you pass was incredible and the ones who don't are going faster than 100 anyway, i wish north islanders were more like that,

The roads down there a farking awesome, no wonder the cops are complaining about the number of warp speed riders, the whole island is a race track!, it's a pitty i was stuck in a cage but plans are underway to get the bike down there for a blast

And what did you learn from this experience?

I see your mistake. You should have called the Police and said someones vandalised my car and is speeding off at 62kph in a 50 zone ! Just sit back and watch the SWAT team swoop in from all directions. In fact that might have been them you saw 300m away.

    Yeah like this person did...

    Woman arrested over high-speed pursuit

    20.04.06 11.00am

A 24-year-old woman has been arrested in Invercargill following a high-speed police chase earlier today.

Inspector Barry Taylor said police were called to an incident at an Invercargill address, and a white Honda Civic involved was spotted en route.

The suspect driver fled, and three police cars pursued the car, which reached speeds of up to 126km/h on State Highway 1.

The driver swerved into the path of an oncoming Mitsubishi Lancer, which had to take evasive action, running off the road and into a fence to avoid a collision.

A back seat passenger, a 39-year-old woman from Invercargill, was taken to Southland Hospital suffering minor injuries.

The fleeing car rolled and also hit a fence.

Mr Taylor said the evasive action of the Lancer driver prevented a tragedy.

"Had he not acted in the way he did, I am certain we would be dealing with a fatal accident this morning."

    Big fucking deal. 126kph, woooooooooweeeeeeee!
