and if this useless government thought about it, having a high way that remains at 100 is better then 80 here and 100 here and so on i mean come on these cars are built to handle alot more then what they allowing us to do even my cop mate said that if we did main high ways like fly overs so you could do a 100 all the way none stop to auckland would be better then going through little towns you didnt need to go through if you wanted to go to that town then go on the off ramp. its that simple really.
and you would save on gas.

What you do is wave him down, pull him over, and ask him why he is in a hurry, you have the same rights as him

HP and general duties dont get along do they?
I was reading the DomPost about a court hearing involving a Dog Handler up on assault charges. Seems he was in pursuit of an offender in Paraparaumu with his dog off the leash, went down an alleyway to find a HP officer in front of him on foot. They got the offender, he struggled, as did the HP, Dog and Handler (sounds like an orgy) and the Handler whacked the offender with his torch in attempt to regain control of the situation.
The newspaper quoted a conflict between the stories of the HP and the handler..... Not often the police don't get their stories straight now is it??
there was also no mention of the torch blow to the head in the Handler's report and the offender was not offered any medical treatment once in custody.
I was given the impression from reading the report that a case of "the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing" led to this fiasco.

In my part of the country they get along (within reason) but they operate under different bosses who have different targets to reach.

At the end of the day, HP and STU staff for that matter, get told by the big bosses you will go out and deliver what "we" want, otherwise you get in the crap! Defining just who the "we" are is a different story - I guess you can trace it right back to the Government.

Actually I find it's quite common when you hit them up on it. I put a case to the PCA, and when they investigated it there were 5 very different versions of events from the 6 officers involved. Not that they cared, that wasn't what swung it in my favour, the cop investigating didn't seem at all concerned that no ones story matched up. But when I pulled out the photos... yeah suddenly the story changed.
