I found a guy who is selling front brake disc's for the ZXR in the "wave" pattern, and they work out bout $40 cheaper than what the bike shops have to offer... yay! Not the same as coloured brake disc's but just as cool

Ok in regards to the Brake disc's... here is the problem with the "wave" ones:
http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=30080
So now I have to get normal ones or find something else, and I've been searching online all day and can't find anything other than standard ones![]()

Found this on trademe if this might help. You can pick either from the wave disk or the orginal which you are looking for.

I also Have repaired my zxr which i no longer have with a m8 before, my damage was pretty much the same but i managed 2 bend my subframe back
Kewl thanks, but thats the guy i'm having issues with in regards to his "wave" disc's... they won't pass compliance (apparantly).Originally Posted by RPM91
As for the ZXR, this weekend I changed all the fairing bolts to blue, but ran out of blue bolts as I didn't take in all the gold bolts to be replaced, still need a few more
Also tried to drain the oil so I could replace the oil filter and engine cover and gasget, but I couldn't get the oil bolt off, I didn't have a big enough spanner (Think I needed a 16" or 17" one, and mine stop at 15". So I tried to use one of those spanner/wrenches that are adjustable, and it just damaged the bolt... so this week I'll buy some bigger spanners and try again on the weekend. Also had to walk for about 20 minutes to the closest gas station to get some more gas for the ZXR...
Also spent some time trying to carve a rear seat cowl out of polystyrene (sp) (or as us from Zimbabwe call it... kay-light), and that didn't work too well, the kay-light keep breaking into bits when trying to carve it into shape... might try doing it from paper marshe (sp) and see how that goes...
The front brake is still leaking fluid from near the lever somewhere, so that needs to be looked at again.

Don't worry about it breaking up too much... when it's sort of close to how you want it, just bog over the top... you're making a mold right?
Use a fine tooth saw, or an old fashioned bread knife to cut polystyrene

I'll try the old school bread knife, I have enough kay-light left for 2 more attempts and should be getting some more over the course of the week
lol if it works out i can make a few and sell themhaha or keep the design and have my bike as the only one

Just remember, doesn't matter how badly you maori up the mold... any technique is fair gameIt's just a mold after all
You'll need to bog the crap out of it so you can sand it to a fine smooth flat surface.... there's no shame in having 20mms of bog instead of 5-10mm
Who's gonna know

How do I bog it up? I could use "Knead It" which will dry to hard as rock, but would I think I'd then need to use like a whole tube...Originally Posted by imdying

Just get yourself a 4 litre tin of 'bog', 'body filler', or something similar. Available from anywhere, Repco, Supercheap, probably the warehouse. Just get the cheapest, you need plenty, and it's not for a permanent job
All you do is mix it up, and use a flat blade to wipe it on. Also get some 40grit sandpaper, that'll rip it down flat pretty quick. Once it's close to the shape you want, keep repeating the process but with lighter grade sandpaper. Eventually (after a little primer maybe) you'll have an object that looks just like a seat cowl (buck) that you can take a mold off of.

Well, I've also decided that I'm not going to do a half assed job on the ZXR. I'm going to be fixing the bike up as much as I can so that it is the only ZXR in nz with that much "special" touches to it... or as some on KB might say "ghey". But obviously they've never meet meso ghey might just be the right word
A shitty pillion ZXR seat (for the cowl mould thingy) will cost me about $60 depending on where I'll get it. (Just so I can have the option of pillion seat or cowl without any major pain in the ass swapping around).
A new set of fairing to tank hoses from Japan is $75, however still waiting on a KB member to drop off his old pair...
Also I need a new "Dim" buld for the headlight, or at least thats what I'm hoping, if its not the bulb I may need a whole new headlight: The problem is... Start the bike up, the headlight doesn't turn on until you manually turn it on, but then it is only high beam... turn off high beam and no light at all...
So the list grows and grows... but now that winter is here I'm in no rush to get back on the ZXR![]()

Wait a minute... you can buy a pre made cowl for $60? Hell, buy that... the cost of dicking around making one is way way higher than that!!! Even if you need to spend time 'finishing it', it'll still take a lot of friggin about to make one from scratch!
Take the headlight bulbs out and ping them with your finger (don't put your greasy fingers all over the class though, halogen bulbs don't like it, oils from the skin will burn in and bugger it). If the filaments are then broken, it was shagged anyway, and needed replacing.
If it's not that, then you might have a small wiring fault. Wirings even more fun that fibreglass![]()
Where can I buy a cowl? I've looked around and havn't found anywhere that sells cowl's that fit on a ZXR250. I've also never seen a ZXR250 with a cowl, spent heaps of time online doing searches on Yahoo and Google, for "ZXR250 Cowl" & "ZXR Cowl" and about a hundred other variations of that... still couldn't find anything... if you know where they sell them please let me knowOriginally Posted by imdying
As for the bulb... yeah, I should be sending in the ZXR this week to have the fork seals and oil changed (Right fork seal is damaged and leaking oil). When I send it in I might get them to change my oil/engine cover & gasget while it's there and ask them to check out my bulb too... to save me the hassle of doing it...

My mistake, I thought from your previous msg you could get one for $60. Do you mean you'll need to get an old rear seat to butcher for the catch mechanism?
