old news this has been happening since the mid 70's, not only carbs but forks instruments and at one time wheels and cylinder heads

some parts were made in austrailia for a while as well

no different to the new triumphs

they have closed down their weld shop and the triumph frames are made in the far east, so much for being a british bike it is merely assembled in England

That and I think a couple of other diffs between Yankee spec and International spec might be extra emission bullshit designed for some states, noddy lights, and the headlight reflector directing light to the wrong side.

I know someone who exports HD's to Japan and also brings cheepies back into the country... and sure some of them have never had an oil-change but some of them have really never been ridden much at all... as with any 2ndhand bike buyer beware...

Porsche designed the motor for the VROD. I know that for a fact. The unions in the US have ruined their motor industry.

Unionists should all be rounded up and shot. I sure hope none of you pussies are in unions.

I'm in a union. I work in a large company that is consistantly trying to erode our hard fought for working conditions. Unions rock.

So you were forced to work for this company right?

Not quite the case, but Harleys were the first Japanese manufactured motorcycles, well before the "big four" were even a glimmer in the milkman's [slanted] eye.

Harley copies were manufactured in Japan from around 1935 when tooling and blueprints were licensed to a Jap company. They produced a flathead twin called a Rikuo which was basically a locally produced Harley for the local market. When Harley U.S. brought out the knucklehead in 1936 and they couldn't convince the Japs to buy the licence and tooling for it, and with the increasingly militaristic government there, they pulled out of the arrangement and left the Japs with the flathead design which they used to produce bikes for the Japanese army through WWII. These bikes were produced until the late 1950s mostly for police and other government departments.

And of course you would know that. Unfortunately, you wouldn't meet the criteria regardless. We don't employ people from Franklin. They're just too thick in the head.

The jap import Harleys need a few things done to them sometimes to get them vinned, like different indicators, etc.
Rather than go to Wellington to buy one, go and see Kerry at Motohaus - he's got quite a good selection of Harleys in stock, and at very good prices, and more coming in all the time.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Alas, vain hope. Not only in a union, in the past I put in many years as a delegate (shop steward for pommie types).

Unions are good. They protect the interests of ordinary working people from exploitation by capitalists . I hope none of you pussies is a capitalist?

If you're not in a union - join one. Anyone (including managers) can join Unite. If you are in a union - get involved. Ask questions. Make suggestions VOTE.

More likelihood of the unionists doing the rounding up and shooting BTW. Communists don't have the same fear of politcal correctness. (BTW , if you are a Communist or aspire to be - good on ya, but don't tell them that when you join the union. Until the revolution , keep it within the 'family')

Ah but Ixion, Capitlism will always win in the end. Alway has and always will. There was talk in a department of my company of joining a union. I said fine, but then of course I'd have to put them all on minimum wage, take their stereo, phones, pool table, extended breaks, christmas bonuses and pizza on fridays away.

Gotta go now, got a slacker to fire... He's married with 4 children. Oh well, you guys will be picking up the tab for this one.
