Hi, I brought a 150 scooter bike and it's just done over the 300 km mark. I need to do the oil change. How do you do this? Is it expensive and who do you take it to?
Was wondering whether you just buy a pack from Repco etc.

I'm in Hutt Valley/ Wellington.
If it has only done 300km it will still be under warranty. You need to take it back to the agent for servicing, or else you will void your warranty. In some cases the first service is free, or only partially charged.

If the bike is 2-stroke you will not need an oil change otherwise you should be able to take it to a m/cycle place to get it changd or look in the manual (or the net if you do not have one).
Basicially to change the oil there is a filler hole with a plug and some kind of dipstick. There will be a bolt on the bottom of the engine which you can take out to drain all the oil. Drain the oil and then refill it to the correct level through the filler hole (you do not need to worry about using m/cycle specific oil in a scooter as it does not have a wet clutch).

It is a four stroke. Chinese. But an oil change is no big deal. Take it into any motorcycle shop, if you do not know of a local agent (is this one of those being sold on Trademe? ). Cost should be well under $100 for an oil change and check over. Only issue may be sourcing an oil filter - give whoever you bought it from a phone call or email and ask where and how an oil filter may be obtained.

The guy i brought it off is no help at all. Bike was damaged in transit. Slight paint scuff, reflector broken and a cracked muffler plus he asked me for more money because he under estimated the freight charges. Nice guy to talk to but that's it. He advised the bikes still brand new on the inside

Offered to refund if i paid $200 return costs. All i wanted was for him to give me what i paid for. New bike, in new condition (no scratches, dentsor broken pieces), delivered to Wellington as agreed within the timeframe agreed for the price we agreed. He broke all those conditions
. Although, after i told him to get stuffed, he waived the additional charges for transport ... what a good guy. He let me off a bill that i didn't incur

Am upset as the value of the bike has just dropped considerably plus i've had to spend additional money. Not great when you intend to sell it once you've finished your license.
I know and i thought i was over it I'm just furious
He come's across as a really nice guy and if everything goes well he is. Reality is he's not and you're just out of luck. He doesn't know a thing about the consumer gaurentees act or fair trading act. Was going to take him to task and claim back the money through the small claims court but hey, what would that achieve? In terms of the cost and money gained i'll lose out. In terms of time and stress, i've already wasted enough talking and e-mailing and phone calls and trying to sort things out the proper way:slap: .
Would suggest NOT buying from him unless you live close enough to drop it back on his front lawn and demand a refund if your bike arrives in an unstatisfactory condition (or breach of contract as my legal training would say).
Prompted me to join here so i can meet and make mates with like minded people. Say something and save everybody else the headache and money from dealing with poorly skilled people.![]()
The bike appears to be good. However, i am scared of driving it any further than the 3 km to work and back as i don't want it to fall apart into one huge pile of shit. I don't see myself getting any redress if it does.
Alright, time to spin off some Hyosung sales tactics.
These are great cheap bikes, consider the GT 250 for instance.
The prices for the GT 250's has gone up by $300 due to the change in exchange rates. This means that someone who purchased their bike for a short period and intend on reselling wont loose as much.
Just do it, buy a Hyosung and ignore peoples slandering of the brand.

hi Tal= well like the lad's say,, book it in for a service,, then when dropping it off, speak to the lad that will do the service, and tell him that you want all nuts and bolts checked too please, as you want to ride a few hundred kms without worrying if it should break down,, bet he would only be too happy to help you out,, cause the less you worry about the bike, the more you will enjoy ridingOriginally Posted by Tal
