Help to raise funds for ambulance station

I am trying to get contacts for corporations that may be able to provide funds towards building the new ambulance station at Manukau. We are currently working out of a building that is uninhabitable. Another $600,000 is required to build the new station which will be on the corner of Wiri Station Rd and Plunket Ave.

If any of you work for large companies that may be able to donate funds can you PM me with contact details so that we can give them a go. Cheers.

Unlike other emergency services, ambulance only gets a small amount of government funding - we have to get by on ambulance transportation charges and donations.

    Difficult!

You really need to let people know what they get for their $$. You could (for instance) sell bricks etc or sell the naming rights to the building. That has a value to a sponsor. Like asking for race bike sponsorship, just asking for cash has a limiter chance of success.

I must say - I'm freaking stunned. Somebody told me yesterday that there was a bike ride around ChCh recently in support of the ambies. Shocking. I can't believe that in a developed society a critical emergency service has to reply on public donations in order to provide the public with the level of service they expect.

    Good luck RR.

    Shame on you NZ Govt.

I was once reliably informed St Johns is one of the richest "not for rofit" organisations in the world. Maybe try taking the wallets of clients...

Seriously though, why not approach some of the bigger construction companies, and see about construction at cost or something (not that margins are huge, but every bit helps, and that would be marketable for the big wigs)

No way. The ambos are one of the most efficient organisations around. That's in good measure because the gubberinmint doesnt get much of a chance to stuff them up, cos they don't get much gubbermint funding.

Get Helen's mob in there and watch the cockups start.

Leave it as it is. If the gyubbermint really want to help, let them give us double tax rebates for donations.

I'm not the one doing all the organising for this, but we're all doing our bit because the station we're working out of at the moment is well past it's use by date (ex fire station and still owned by the Fire Service, but up for tender). I'm just trying to get some leads from people on commercial organisations, charitable trusts, clubs, families and individuals that may be able to help us.

All gifts and donations will be appropriately acknowledged - and some may be eligible for tax exemption.

The new station will be a dedicated St John Community Complex in Manukau which will give the community new training facilities, a St John Youth meeting venue and an ambulance station.

Anyone who has been inside the station that we're currently working out of will understand why we are so keen to get out of it!

Yup - it's self propelling... the less the Govt do, the more people have to do themselves... so the Govt then increases their level of non committment... so the Govt backs off a bit more...

    Who voted them in again???

Set up dry run for toll collection in Auckland.
Get a few dozen bikers to collect "tolls" in the morning peak traffic maybe.

Hey the window washers get away with it, cept this would be for a real cause.

Ok I know it's not corporate sponsorship.

You could do a lot worse than contact an advertising agency for help.

The agency I work for handles Wellington Free Ambulance as a client. We've just finished putting together the material for the annual appeal last week.

Although they may not be able to just give you money they may be interested in helping you with getting the message out.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.
