Is your boss biker friendly ?

Hm, question arose in another thread about bikers not being able to ride to work during the week, cos of copping flak from the boss about turning up on a motorbike/in motorbike gear .

Which made me wonder just how common this situation is. Certainly never encountered it m'self, but I can believe (some bosses being what they are) that others may have. So, I'll have a go at one of these polly things.

Question is : is your boss / workplace biker friendly.Or would turning up on a bike each morning be an unwise career move. Comments as to why would be good. Could be useful to BRONZ, maybe even pull in the unions and WINZ.

EDIT If you have a job but no bike, put what the reaction would be. If you have a bike but no job, I even made an option for you, just so you wouldn't feel left out.

i am my boss so i am biker freindly and my wife who rides to work every day and works in a senior management position her boss thinks its great to have diversity in the workplace...plus its free parking for the bike

My manager recently passed his learners and now rides a GZ250. Our site General Manager has a Triumph Bonneville, and another manager has quite a number of bikes. One of the senior mangers in Wellington also rides and has a recent article (Postie Bike Challange) published in BRM.

So, no problems with turning up on a bike. In fact one could be called a bit soft on the few days that the bike is left at home. Now we are just waiting for K14 to get a road bike instead of bringing his cage to work each day.

Well I'm the GM so I answered 'I *am* the boss', but I obviously answer to the Directors. Both of whom think my bike is cooler than a cool thing, one is intimidated by it (it's mean and scary and growls lots), while the other has an extensive riding history overseas. Also means parking by the door.

However I'm mostly using the cage to go back and forth to work on week days, at least until the wife quits work at the end of May in preparation for our newborn due in July. Then it's back to biking 7 days a week!! I thumb my nose at Christchurchs winters, I wanna ride and ride I will.

My boss thinks bikes are cool. She has one herself and thinks mine is pretty dam sexy........... i think i love her.....

Workmates and boss are into dirt bikes so they dont care but I'd rather use the car for work and bike for play(get plenty of time on it without having to take it to work)

No probs where I work. Boss has a m/c. Forman has one, but has it up for sale on Trademe. The leading hand has one. 4 out of 7 in my section ride a m/c to work. Scuffy bunch of workers we are too welding and such

. I do get commented on my beard occasionally though.

Basicly if our output is ok we get left alone..............

My boss is not that stupid to say anything about riding bikes. Although if there are people working for bosses that would, thats stupid IMO.

My boss is a DICK.

I only work part time, and my bike is my only transport.

But when i get to work, he is always bitching about my gear being everywhere.
I hang it up out of the way, but then he bitches saying "ill need that hook tonight"

Just as well i handed my Notice in last night.... Im sick and tired of him being such a Tight arse moaning bitch.

do me a favor. NEVER buy Fish and Chips from 'Raumati Fish Supply'

at my last job my boss sponsered me to race , he paid my entrys and cash and use of a vehicle with gas to get to races.i think thats pretty cool as far as bosses go .
currently i have a company car which im not complaining about and thats what i take to work
