    Angry Total con on TradeMe

I know that this issue has been raised before, but I am amazed by the behaviour of some of the TradeMe traders. I was bidding on a $1 reserve 86 HONDA VF1000-II. I was prepared to bid up to $1,700/- and in the last few minutes there was fast and fierce bidding between between a second bidder and myself. I eventually bailed at $1,700 and the auction ran to completion $8 higher. Within seconds of the auction closing I was offered the bike at $2,500!!!! I rejected and within minutes the bike was re-listed at $2,100 with a buy now of $3,000. When other trader made comments on the auction about this they were dished out all sorts of verbal abuse by the seller. Have a look at

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=55793478

    The original action was at

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/List...px?id=54846180

I posted a question to the seller in the new auction about the shady practice and they posted a question in one of the auctions I am currently running stating

“you should really mind your business you silly old man,il have you know the winning bidder pulled out of the sale because of the high k's so why dont you go find a little girl or boy to play with you stupid old fart dont stick your nose in when you dont even know what went on.you had nothing to do with the sale or purchase at all.now you have pissed off my husband he will be paying you a visit and trust me you dont want that posted by: rza82007 (12 ) 12:17 pm, Sun 7 May”

I have reported the new auction to TradeMe as being dodgy but I am not sure if they will pull it. I wonder when this primate first learned to walk upright.

Uncommon to be this bad, but there are a few out there. Perhaps could pass to police as well? They are apparently interested in e-bullying.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Feedback on the seller is only 75%, which is pretty bad. Plus a LOT of "not completed" auctions. Sounds dead dodgy.

And I see the high bidder in the "original" auction says the seller did not respond at all before relisting. So claims about the high bidder "not wanting it" are a lie.

He never had any intention of honouring the reserve. It was just a scam

I've bought a number of vehicles on Trademe, with excellent results. My first rule is if ANYTHING feels wrong, walk away. There'll always be another one.

I wouldn't trade with that person, and I doubt you could place any reliance whatsoever on the statements of vehicle condition. It is also said to e unregistered , which rings an alarm bell in this case, I wonder if it could be stolen.

I'm with Ixion on this one.
    Feedback look very dodgy.
I'd rather have my hands still on my $1700 than waiting for this con to make good any promises.

Good on you for flagging it up with Trade-Me, Hope they can flush out "richard181" and other bogus bidders!

    Trademe.

I don't even venture near Trademe mainly because I just don't understand the mechanics of it.
Now that it's not privately owned by a NZ businessman (who at least seemed to be "personally accountable") I have even less confidence in approaching it.
Really showing my age here with my resistance to new things I suppose. John.

Anyone who trades with someone with that much bad feedback is taking their chances. Lol the last auction they didnt pay for was for a bunch of hydroponic gear.. wonder what they're growing at their place!

I have bought two bikes and a horse float threough Trademe. All went well and no problems anywhere. However when you look at the original listing, the amount of negative feedback on higher priced items would raise some serious about the seller.

I've noticed a number of auctions lately that have meet reserve when finished, and then later been offered to me at a higher price. How can that be?? If it meet reserve they should not have the option to offer it again to the watchers???

Something that really pisses me off is people who withdraw auctions before they've finished AFTER they have met the reserve, just so they can sell it quicker to someone else, MEANWHILE you are making a comittment to that auction and missing out on others while you wait for it to finish, leaving you thinking what the hell is the point? :slap:

Trade-me would be better if users had more accountability.

unfortunately trade-me doesnt have enough security in place when you register so you are always going to get incidents like this.

TBH I will always stick with ebay, you kinda know where you are with them, and its self policed by registered members, so you dont get these incidents.

And yes I know, ebay isnt used much in NZ, maybe its worth using more.
    Doesn't play well with others
