I havn't tried any bikes really. So thats a good point, just going by looks and personal preference. I havn't said that I've found it difficult to fit on a bike yet, just that I'm interested to know what 250 cruisers us taller people ride.

I'm a fairly skinny 6'2" so the weight/bulk issue doesn't really apply. Just all arms and legs, hah.

Sat on a Honda Hornet 250. Thats a nice 250, lots of room but not a cruiser.

Starting to wonder if I should spend my learner time on a more spacious bike like a Hornet, Bandit, GT250 etc and then get a big cruiser later. Who knows, I may fall in love with the naked's

Glad you finally made it onto the site! This is a BIG thing - got me into the crusiers section... not easy to do...

That would be the 250 V-star Crash harry. It is biggger than most other 250 cruisers aswell and being a v-twin it'll have more torque than the inline twins. More managable on the motorway aswell without struggling to keep up to speed limit.

I gotta second that.. I had a look at a 250 V-Star while waiting for my clutch cable to get fixed.. I'm not quite a cruiser person, but it is a beauty.. and a big one at that

All these people and no one has mentioned the Honda Magna VT250C???

It is a 250 v-twin in a large frame, bags of torque and will cruise at 140. Better looking than any other 250 cruiser as well.

I was going to post what Dover said. My neighbour has a Madna 250 and I've ridden it a couple of times. It's perfect for you.

You'd think it was at least a 600+.

And it's a Honda so you cant go wrong.

1) 2000-2004 Kawasaki VN250 Eliminator
On par in size with the Honda V25 / VT250C, its the 250 you ride when you wanna look like you're riding a bigger bike, and with its 6 speed transmission and well thought out gear ratios, this 250 liquid cooled Vtwin and comfy huge low seat, this could possibly see touring duties quite comfortably. I looked at a couple, a 2000 model for $5000 and a 2002 model for $6500.....Looks cool! Shovelhead's learner cruiser rating: 8.5/10

2) 1994 - 1998 Honda V25 Custom / VT250C
*Censored* awesome looking bike. Modern day chopper type design with alloy wheels, longish rake, sound Honda 250 Vtwin, liquid cooled, widish rear tyre (for a 250 cruiser) decent amounts of chrome and a sweet paint job make this a must get for people who are after a 250 cruiser. The size will make people think its a 400 or 600, but the 250 has the right gearing to show a virago where to go. My first choice, if I was seeking a cruiser. This thing looks as cool as a VRod!! I recentley saw one on bikesales.com for $3490, it was a 1994 model. They are usually in the $5000 range...well worth it!!! Shovelhead's learner cruiser rating: 9.5/10

3) 2004 Yamaha V-star XVS250
Slightly larger than the older Virago 250s of the 90's this beast has cafe street cruiser looks that will make people definately get distracted while talking to people sipping coffees... Tons of chrome and that nice black finish. Harley clone looks but this baby has its own sweet look built up by yamahas sweet cruisers of the past.. Definately maintains its great reputation. Strong 250 Vtwin will last for ages before needing a replacement. A wee bit smaller than the awesome XVS 650 Vstar (basically the Dragstar from the 90's)
The early and late 90's Virago 250s are a tiny bit smaller, but offer the best value for money out of all the 250 cruisers due to their cheap running costs, widely available spares, and cheaper purchase prices than the other 250s, some Viragos can be had for as little as $1800 while decent examples can be had for $2500-$3000 depending on the year / condition. But for a Vstar, it may set you back about $4000-$5000

There is (or was recently and I assume still) one of those VN250 things parks in Aotea Centre car park each day.Black one. Impressive. I had to read the rego label to convince myself it was only a 250. I'd have taken it for a 750. Not into crusiers m'self (note correct spelling incidently ), but that Kawa was a nice looking lump of chrome.
