If you cant take a corner at more than the posted limit, or require a sign to tell you how fast to corner, you should not be allowed to drive or ride.
100kph is bloody slow enought as it fricken is.

After a fatal on SH1 at Dunnydun, Transhit NZ say they are considering an 80 km/h speed limit in the area.
The fact that a ute driver pulled out to pass a stopping vehicle and into the path of a truck seems to have escaped them.
Could they introduce an IQ limit for drivers?

EXACTLY the same thing happened in that costal road near wellington whose name I forget

Some silly person overtook on double yellow lines, had a head on, so LTNZ put in 80kmh limit AND a speed cam.... oh boy can you imagine the uproar???


There was a lot of opposition from people who realised 80ks doesn't stop you overtaking on double yellow lines; "Ummm why don't you put in a barrier instead" was heard many times but to no avail.

Herein lies the real problem! Nobody seems to want to release the statistics as to the precentage of accidents caused by speeding. Most accidents I would wager, are caused by incompetence or innattention. Ralph Nader's book, "Unsafe At Any Speed" doesn't just apply to cars!
