PT>........... ya know we love ya scum even tho your a hardley riding piggie

oh but one serious question do you ever give tickets to people who drive rediculously slowly in 50km/h zones, like i was stuck behind this dumb bitch on the way to uni today cause she was driving along at 30km/h, the worst part is, ya can practically gaurantee that if you leave after 10am i'll get stuck behind some old lady in a toyota echo (or other small slow car) doing 30km/h, am i allowed to pass them? seeing as it's white lines, i have 100m clear road after passing, is there any law against passing in a 50k zone?

I have one word and its "Pass"

I think they have to issue you a ticket on the spot don't they?

Nope! They can send one on its merry way to your front doorstep if they so please. Write a nice letter and see how far you get

See post #15 to upskill on your legal knowledge - 'they' are not obliged to give you your ticket on the spot - look at speed cameras for an example.

I've noticed a number of posts recently mentioning that the ticket is coming in the mail later. Is this their new practice?
Perhaps the cop simply didn't have a ticket book with them at the time? Mailing out tickets has been an option for god knows how long. There is a list near the bottom of the ticket where the cop can indicate how the notice was served, ie: handed, posted, attached to vehicle.

    Nothing new here I'm afraid.

Are you being serious? Of course you can pass other traffic in a 50kph zone, provided always of course that you do it safely, in accordance with the road code, and don't exceed 50kph whilst doing it. I do it all the time.

fair enough. im disputing geting the ticket, i was speeding so i pay the price for it, thats fair enough.
but, didnt she have to tell me what speed she was fining me at?., they said that couldnt show me a radar, but she said that i got up to 81 km/h, not that i was being fined for that, just that i got up to that at some stage

I thought they had to provide proof of you speed if you ask for it? it's been a few years since i've been pinged but the last couple of cops offered to show me, even the bike cops, if they give you the "oh..oh..I cant" it sound like they've stuffed up somewhere and pulling numbers out of their ass.

One of the old MOT cops had a seriously upset speeder demand to "see the radar". Knowing he hadn't locked the speed display, he said fine. So he showed him the dash unit, the guy says "where's my speed?'
Smartarse says' you didn't ask to see that, you wanted to see the radar".

Are you familiar with a small book called the "Road code"?

Yes they can, theres no law saying they have to give you a ticket then and there (ie speed cameras). Doesnt matter when or if they put there blue and reds on, doesnt matter where you or they were.
If they saw you speeding then thats it, your done, end of story, goodnight nurse.
This isnt a murder case where a technicality could get you off, like "hey he didnt put my date of birth on the ticket or some shit".
Done the crime, now you gonna pay.
Please no more threads about, "are the cops are allowed to do this?"
It brings all the net lawyers out.
okay. thats fair enough. but shouldn't they tell me what they are going to fine for?. whats stopping them from writing down any speed they want?.
i know they are doing their job, and i don't dispute that.
