BuckBuck and His First Main Practice Session

Well after a bit of practice last Saturday I have had to wait until today for the weather to clear here.

I managed two good sessions this afternoon concentrating of the fundamentals from the Basic Handling Skills course and also being very aware of the head checks. Gear shifting is going okay and will smooth out in time.

Fortunate in our street it is 1.5 km long gradual uphill and dead end at steep end at top also with one street tee intersection into a Grove where I was able to some very slow bike control exercises.

Was out 12.30 - 2.00 and 3.00 - 4.00pm. First main day over and 30km completed. Will carry on this evening and continue reading Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough.

Congrats on your new motorcycle too. I ventured out again today and got up top of the valley here in Stokes Vegas for hour and a half, getting through the gear shifts better and introducing myself to the intersections and the wee bit of traffic up this end. Going well all in all and enjoying my motorcycle.

Might I also recommend the group riding DVD that is being passed out for free by ACC and roadsafe training. That will show you some good traffic and group skills mate. What's the book you're reading, BuckBuck? I have got the Biker's Bible by Graeme Alldrice (sp?) but I'm interested in other ones as well.

2ndly, free DVD waaa? How do I get one? Traffic skills could definitely use improving (we won't talk about the round about incident - probably should have given way there, but no harm, no foul, right?)
