I know NZ drivers never DO apply that rule to blind hilltops (and most not to blind bends) , but there is a reason for it.

nana mode off. Congratulations of saving it.

Like u say - leave at least a 2 second gap at all times unless you can guarantee the person in front isn't a twat

com'on gamgee, its not just woman drivers, its asians too!

seriously though, have to agree with Ixion - you have to be prepared for someone to jam on their brakes, and leave enough room to stop - (im sure most of us are guilty more times than we'd like to admit - timely reminder).

and what makes it worse is it's the second time i've nearly been knocked off by a cage in 2 days, on sunday night coming home (i already posted this somewhere i think) pulled into the dark one lane side street leading to my street, going along there then out of no where there is a black cage coming towards me with it's headlights off, i just plain didn't see it cause the street was so dark, so on the brakes swerved in between two parked cars, cager finally realises why i took evasive action and turns their headlights on, i'm guessing it was a guy, as a woman probably would have wondered why that hoon on the bike tried to crash into her

Yeah, but you'd have been deader if it had been a woman who'd taken you out...

(Especially if it had something to do with a parking space or something..)

    You're ALL wrong.

I've come to the conclusion the real culprits is anyone with a "BABY ON BOARD" notice on the back. I've yet to see a single person with that sign on the back be considered a good driver.

I hate inconsiderate cagers! I was turning right out of a street a couple of weeks ago at a t intersection and the 4wd cage in front of me came straight out so I hit the horn. The look of surprise on the cagers face was priceless, it was a fine day and not a lot of cars out.

I always look for fellow bikers and can honestly say I've never cut one off (unles s you count pulling out on a group ride: sorry Wasp). Mostly my experience is that bikers will sit where you can see them, only ever had two surprises and they were both L platers.

I'm totally sick of brainless driving when out in my cage or on the bike.

    Oh wait, sorry that's asians.
Bugger. What can we do about women then?

Ah ha, knew that there was something we had over men....

Just to add fuel to the fire.... A wee while ago a few of us Wgtn gals got together for a chicks ride. We were parked somewhere near Kelston, just of the motorway. There were about 6 or 7 bikes parked up and I kid you not but EVERY woman driver that came into the carpark to drop of their recycling or whatever had trouble negotiating their way around our bikes and believe me there was plenty of room... Then there was the guy's, blokes driving trucks had absolutely no problems getting around the bikes. I reckon it might have something to do with the woman and men think very differently, then again maybe its just stupidity?!

Its all bad drivers thats suck.

Yesterday a stupid lady drove her car up a one way road at a busy intersection at speed - the wrong way!

Everyone just stopped and watched her.....if a car had been driving down
that road - we all would have witnessed a head on.

By the way she wasn't asian either. I find asian drivers are apprehensive drivers.....someones apprehension
gives you time to watch for and get out of a potential situation. Its all the speeders and the drivers
that make fast unexpected turns etc that are the ones to watch out for I reakon

Oh oh I got another one. A few of us went for a ride over Piecock awhile back and when we came to the roundabout that heads towards Tawa we stopped to give way and to our amazement there was this older lady who was turning right at the roundabout, but was driving on the right of the roundabout TOWARDS oncoming traffic. And she looked like she was completely oblivious to what she had just done as her and her friend just kept chatting while everyone just sat at the roundabout watching them as they tootled off...

And it's her fault that was the only park available, and she could have been driving around for 20 minutes looking for one? Any driver is entitled to stop basically anywhere for any reason. The onus is on the following vehicle to allow stopping room. Go back to your road code if you don't believe me.
At the same time I agree it's not fun being put in that position...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

I'd actually rather be behind an inconsiderate woman driver than a knackered old datsun/sunny driven by a gangster wannabe, driving with one headlamp and no break lights (not to mention bloombs of blue smoke following it) - Wellington seems to have their fair share of these driving around but I leave a big gap just incase some engine part/piece of bodywork decides to fall off!
