BD goes metric.
This is my runabout for the next little while.
1800cc, 20 grand. Fits me very real well and it gets along quite nicely too. I've ridden Hogs that go harder, but they were 3 times the spend.
Reports follow.

Also had a burn on the big beemer GS1200 adventurer today - beautiful engineering solutions in a body only a mother could love. Suprisingly nimble, smooth and, dare i say it 'has some poke'.

Put 'em with yesterdays Daytona 675 jaunt and it's a rich vein of good riding fortune. Will share.

It looks very nice I guess in a crusierish way. But I don't do crusiers. So once again, we have a splendid motor, in a , to me, unsuitable frame . Why, oh why, will the manufacturers not put these motors into touring frames. Surely there must be many prospective buyers for an 1800c tourer. But who will not be attracted by a crusier with its riding position, ground clearance and lack of weather and wind protection.

that Beemer looks like a mozzie that got caught in some sort of nasty gamma rays and developed super powers........ugly as sin but im sure it would be a blast to ride.
Im still abit suspect on the headlight of that 1800cc but having never rode one im not about to pass judgement on anything but the looks, and as for that beautiful inline3 675............................... im off to the bathroom

You lucky sod, Dave. I loved the ride I had on one of those (black one = better

). Fair enough that some don't like the look, but I thought it was surprising sporty in it's feel. Good call Ixion. Suzuki could use this engine to challenge the Goldwing (or whatever it's equivalent is now)

I'm not worried about the protection etc - but agree about the chassis - this ain't Kansas.

Bloody good fun around town however - as comfortable as any - and a sharp looking thing.

Cornering clearance is better on a V-Rod.

I'd be suprised if it was an 'unsuitable' frame. I dare say it gets quite jiggy when you want to. Dealer here reckons you can get the front a foot of the ground with not too much hassle, and the chassis is more than capable of laying the smack down on most sportsbikes to 200km/h, or so the tale goes. As far as suitability for the motor goes, just where else would that motor work? GSXR chassis? Don't think so... Something like a Buell? Rather have a TL/VTR motor in me sports twin thanks. I reckon it's in about just the right place

There's plenty of touring bikes out there, I'm pretty sure they've got another market in mind.

The M109R is a pretty good ride for a fags bike.

I took it on last thursdays auckland ride and gave it a cane up the coatesville - riverhead highway and it can haul along pretty well. It is fuckin heavy but not that unmanageable in the corners except for the low ground clearance.

Just needs some straight through pipes to noisy it up a bit.

Took the M109R for a spin the other day, felt like shit in the corners. Seemed very much a symptom of the profile of the rear tyre (squarer than a Rocket III's). Engine was entertaining, surprised at getting 7500rpm out of that thing.
Overall opinion was it handled like poo and it felt cheap. There's plastic everywhere, that must be the "gsxr technology" they were talking about.

On the upside, I took a DL650 V-strom for a ride the other day. What an excellent bike. Perfect home for the SV engine, surprisingly fast on the road, confidence inspiring on the dirt/gravel.

Someone give me a ride on the 1000cc one...
