What about a 2yr old Blackbird? Bloody comfortable, can really boogie in a straightline...good for a big bloke and passenger. Will have the same handling issues as your mates XJR in the twisty stuff (or CB1300).

Will not be taking pillions and all the Blackbird's that I've seen have huge mileages

Ahhh.... a good choice but just to qualify your twisty stuff commment, a 6mm ride height spacer under the rear shock dramatically improves turn-in. You can go as high as 12 mm but this height is only really suitable for track days unless you want to risk the odd really good tank-slapper

BTW, Blackbirds are good for over 150000 MILES without significant engine work

Many of us feel your pain! My criteria were almost identical to yours (not having quite the same physical presence as you) and I stuck to the jappa's getting the choice down to a 1200 Bandit, 900 Hornet, and SV1000. I bought the Hornet for several reasons, and having had it for nearly a year now I am very pleased with the decision. Did 1500kms with a mate (SV1000) two weekends ago an we swapped bikes for a leg or two and I thoroughly enjoyed the more agressive and loud SV, but was pleased to remount the Hornet. He was genuinely impressed with the Hornet and was keener than me to swap bikes again.
They are all good, and differ in many ways, so go and ride them and you will find one that will feel more right. My Hornet is black, and I have added aftermarket cans, a carbon fibre look belly pan, small screen and different bar ends. I think it looks and sounds great - certainly better than standard at modest extra cost.

For Gods Sake - DONT. Once you decide on a bike and buy it what will you do on rainy days/cold days/shitty days/cant think what to do days. No more endless research every other day deciding you've found the ultimate machine only to change your mind etc etc. At least thats what I found. Lifes actually quite boring now the big bike hunts over and I'm not even aloud it inside!
