If you do buy a new bike, I know a buyer for a GSXR 600 Corona.......

iirc, the zx14 can do a 9.8-9.9 1/4 mile straight out of the box. Couple of basic mods, and it drops to low 9s.

Someone told me the new busa was going to be a 6 cyl I think, so the power war is ooooon

Thinking about the recent dragwars we had in April, the R1 came out on top - that is if we are only talking a 1/4 mile, anything after that and Im sure the ZX1400 will take it.

the new busa won't be out until 2008 - is what the word is suzuki.

So if you looking for fastest in straight line, get that scream eagle harley thingy, or the zx14($21k brand new which is good money for the bike) busa($20k brand new)
Bang for buck I would go with the Busa

Ok, not exactly out of the box, but save money, buy the Busa and use the saving to work the motor.
There is a heap of performance stuff out there for the Busa.

I hear they can take them out to about 1650 cc.

JW, don't forget that upgrading from your 'sports' 600 to the bigger 'sports-tourer' 1300-1400cc bikes means a heap more weight too, and they are more restricting in the twisties and in gargre maneuvering...but if you're only gonna be riding in a straight line you'll have no worries!

Busa would obviously be cheaper if you're gonig to buy a second hand one. 10-15 g btwn 98-04 model stoch standard. ZX 14 would be new 21 g's.

The bike is designated ZX2R(A/C)(74239472398747893248932) whatever on chassis numbers on front forks and on engine.

My Pick is the ZX14 - seen a stock one strapped do a 9.26... vid is lying around here somewhere.

And once you get the bike you will be looking for a country where you can use it. Good luck.
