    Fair enough.

    My take.

The are many, many internet retail disaster stories for every happy one.
Particularly in limited interest fields like motorcycling.

Rightsizing and not creating a potentially bankrupting black hole of constant upkeep costs is more important than the bells and whistles of the site. (a more complete inventory follows)

What you see there is an expenditure that will keep a growing business solvent and provide a service that some customers have requested.

I also quite like the design and functionality. The bling is on the front end.

so yeah - it's not flyingpig.co.nz, but look where that is now.

This might just work. I hope so because I have some best friends behind the counter.

    it's average at best.
if that's your idea of a great online catalogue, i seriously suggest you start browsing some others.
for someone like motomail, they should have years of experience in this, hence my 1998 comment.
i know they are a customer of yours dave, i'm not attacking you.

Well, it is certainly a major advance over what is available from any other NZ bike shop.

As to the dropping of the cataglog, hard copy catalogs are still important if your target market is old people or other non Web savvy demographics.

But, a bike shops market is bikers. And surely of all sectors of society bikers might be expected to be among the most web aware? So I think there would be few who would lament the passing of the hard copy, provided the web site is up to scratch (and up to date).

I think it's good - or will be once everything else is there

I've just come up a wonderful new marketing tool. The catablog. An interactive blog and catalog combined!

    Thumbs up

So what if it aint perfect - websites aren't cheap and I suspect that Motomail are like most other bike related businesses in that they don't make extortionate profits. Sod it, it's shed loads better than what we had.

Re the 1998 thing, I thought ownership changed a couple of years ago? So it's really only been a couple of years....

[Edit:] maybe I'm easy to please but i like the site! Good work....

    Nice work squeaky.
Chris Hyland took over from Phil Scott 3 years ago. Respect to both of them, but it's now a completely different business, stock, locations, staff, personality.

The makings for the cafe are all done too - soon us arklanders can head to motomail for a latte as well - mmmmmmmm chocolate sprinkles!!!! - what web?

I know where my ride meet up point will be.

I've been banned from Motormail. That girl that I helped out on Ponsonby Rd after her spill took exception to some of my humourous comments about the incident. She now works there and wants to bash me.

However, now they are online I can safely purchase my goods without risk of grievous bodily harm.

So where's the problem. Do what everyone else does, take the laptop , or iPod, into the toilet. Unlimited pron AND web catalog.
