    Unhappy Why me?

So this afternoon, I think, "You know what? You've had that licence for a week now and done nought about it, it's time you got on the bloody thing and had a ride."

So I get my gars on and get on the bloody thing.

I wheel it out of my garage. Sun is shining. Sky is as blue as it gets in Auckland in June. No-one is around. Road is dry.

I give a push on the old starter switch and it gives a few tugs...open out the choke...but tugs seem to be dying....

Try it again. Again some revs, but they fade out pretty quick, slowing down to a very low sort of "chugga-chugga". Three attempts and I think I'd better give it a miss for today.

So I take it inside...and give it one last go...

And nothing. Nothing whatsoever. No revs, no movement, no flashing lights or even vaguely exciting noises, no genie, nothing. Nada. Zilch. Squat.

Is this karma for not having got on the bike? It started OK on Sunday.

    *sigh*

Think I might get someone else to do it for me....I know I'd somehow do something wrong.

It was just typical, you know, the first time I EVER go to ride my own bike (and only the second time ever ON a bike) and it doesn't work.

My standard response to "Why me?"

    Why not?

Seriously, dont' stress you'll get it sorted. Look on the bright side, at least it didn't happen miles away from home after you stopped for gas..........

Mate it could be a lot worse. I thought this was a "I got hit by a truck" or "my bike was stolen" or even "the cops pinged me at 2000kph above the limit".
Glad to hear it is only a "Won't go so I walked back inside" story.

It'll go - have someone show you how to bump start it and you'll be away in no time.

    Good luck and enjoy!

You haven't seen this thread have you... to paraphrase... give a girl a thrill and she's happy for a day... show her how to get her thrills and she' got no need to ring you anymore...

    LOL

But *ahem* back on topic - yeah - you're right

    Never questioned that fact.

Anyways saves having to go "recue" them from out the back of nowhere due to a flat battery! And would still be needing help with the oil change and other dirty things girls choose not to do!

Keep up the learning curve. Wont be long and you'll be stripping it down on the side of the dessert road. Oh..people don't do that anymore eh?

    mmmmm icecream......

But yes, learn to bump start it. Should be easy on your bike anyway. But remember if you have a flat battery or a problem, there is probably a reason for it, so check that out too, dont just rely on the old bump start....

You do realise that you can jump start a bike with jumper leads, from a car battery? (Unlike jumping a car, best to NOT have the car engine running)
