That is terrible to hear Eddie. Hopefully she heals fast and there are no long term effects from this. Stay strong and our prayers are with you and your family.

Hey Eddie, real sorry to hear about Liz, good to hear she's stabilised somewhat. I work at Waikato Uni too, I don't know her personally but I've seen her riding about to/from campus (did she own a 400 kwaka before now) and a number of my collegues in the IT services division know her. We all wish her well. Please (Wolf too) pass on our thoughts, hopefully we'll see her back on two wheels one day

I just spoke with Liz's husband and learned that I got garbled information about the accident so ignore my previous post on what happened.

Going by what Liz told Roger, she was heading into town - bright red bike, bright red helmet and lights on - slowed as she approached the intersection and a car that was on Holland Road, heading the other way, turned in front of her to go down Marshmeadow, whereupon she smashed into the car's left hand side.

The driver should have been able to see her, as she was approaching on a dead straight road and brightly dressed on a bright-coloured bike with the lights on.

I wish for her the family & friends the strength to mentally cope with these terrible times .

    Thanks for the update Wolf.
People are just in too much off a hurry to take the time to look properly or to wait for the safe gap in the traffic these days. all other road users life's are at risk!

I gather there were other people around as Roger mentioned witnesses to the fact that Liz was entirely blameless and being as safe as possible (must have noticed her reduction in speed approaching Marshmeadow) and that the car just turned in front of her.

Do not fret, just go for it.

Funnly nuff, red is one of the harder colours to see mainly in poor light... either way I just cant comprahend how the prick in the car didnt see Liz.
So there for he must have turned delibratly as a lot of people do, so fuck the arsehole I'd make it my lifes ambition to make sure the prick/prickess is screwed over by the courts... but some how I cant see that happening, wee fine and sent on there way.

Drivers and pushing ther luck is fast becoming an epademic, Chch has the worst intersection related accecents by 10% over the rest of NZ and it honestly puts the shits up me these days.

Eddie & Wolf, guttered bout Liz SFA I can do about it tho, guess I can only keep an eye on her recovery, sounds like shes in a bad way poor lass... all the best guys.
    cheers DD
