    Cool Pure Biking Instinct/Skill

Yup.. I reckon I have this.. <-- referring to title..

Riding down Blackburn Rd, Dinsdale today (or Irvine.. can't quite remember)..

Just minding my own business, doing about 30km/h hour, no other traffic on the road, me busy looking for my next address to drop off a letter, and suddenly i spot this brown thing approaching me very quickly from my front-left (diagonal), about 2 metres away from me, without 'any' thought, i lifted my left foot off the peg, turned my leg angle to the left a bit, and did a stomping action.. as i did this, i looked down to see my boot connect solidly with a the head of a pit bull..
    IT WAS GREAT!!!!
this thing had it's teeth bared 0.5 seconds before my boot said "hello", after my boot finished introducing itself, a strange occurance happened.. has anyone ever seen a pit bull yelp, and then skimp away on the footpath with it's tail between its legs? PRICELESS!!!!!!

and the best part: I didn't lose 'any' balance, and kept on my 30km/h way to the next letterbox .. I kept checking behind me, but the sore little doggy didn't turn around to look at me once

    Nicely done.

Expect a letter from the SPCA or whatever it's called.

the dog didn't have a Warrant of Fitness or Road Registration..

it's skimping away with tail between its legs were its way of saying it was in the wrong.. if that dog tries anything again, the SPCA will have to put that mutt into protective CUSTARD purely instinctive self-defence.. it woulda taken a nice chomp on my leg, and then I wouldn't be able to shift gears..

Sometimes, when it concerns dogs...we dig deep within ourselves for skills we didn't know we possesd. There were a couple of ''tough'' dogs (I could tell by the collars they were a special tough breed, possibly one was called Satan, the other Killer, but I'm just guessing there) and they would race down my drive and down the back, mess everything up,then come tearing out again. It used to really piss me off.

So,one day they come tearing down the front lawn and around the back.So I picked up a stone - and with a skill unknown to me (I throw worse than a girl, underarm is good) I threw the stone hard at the exact time they cleared the house. The stone struck one dog with that sickening wet thwack you know just hasn't bounced off a bone. They made no noise, just accelerated at warp 10 out of my place.I didn't want or mean to hurt them - but the suckers never stepped foot on my property again.

nice throw.. but yeah.. the effort this took.. was so 'effortless'.. it was like someone pours some juice for you, and hands you the glass, and you reach out your hand and take it.. that simple

Well it's a dog eat dog world. Did what you had to do - well done. Dog is better off, if he had got hold of you it would've been off to the pound and nite-nite. So if the hippies complain, you actually saved it's life!

Nice work avoiding a moving dog bite Zero, yep I agree with your statement. That musta taken some skill.

I'm an executive member of an animal welfare organisation (seriously) but advocate responsible dog ownership. The owner shouldn't have let their dog be in a position where it could have bitten someone and/or caused a serious traffic accident. Dog owners in this country need to take responsibility for their dogs. My dog for instance does bite (by nature not training) as a protective mechanism, she is a guard dog and I make sure she is properly secured at all times.

I don't know how I would have reacted given that situation but I'd like to think it would have been much the same as yourself.
