Hey sorry to hear about this. Is it just the indicator and its mounting that's damaged or the fairing as well? I hope you don't have to park the bike for the rest of the winter.

Its just the indicator and mounting, the mounting was made out of Knead-It after I was blown into a grass bank in the Wairarapa last Sept and has held up pretty well all things considered. There are a few more scratches on the bike and a bit of a crack in the fairing by the belly but nothing major. I'll have a look at it properly when I get home from work today, it was too dark last night. Not to sure if I will leave it parked up, I'd rather ride my bike than bus everywhere. Just another confidence drop atm....

LMAO! That lil car is funny, you really have to experience it to know... it has a personality all of its own! And the feature door is all class (no really!) I dont reckon he'd let me drive it anyway, just imagine the amount of damage I could do with a cage, even a small one!

Cheers dude, I really do enjoy riding but I am seriously thinking that biking may not be for me. Just gonna have to do some more thinking, I dont want to be too hasty in my decision...

Glad to hear you're ok Hels.
I rode home from Palmy last night, hit a beauty lightning storm before Otaki and had to stop there to change my jumper under my jacket cause it was so wet! Couldn't see where I was going and rode most of the way with my visor up aand driving rain in my eyes!! Finally made it home in one very wet piece, jacket weighed a ton and my feet were sitting in about an inch of water in my boots, pulled into my driveway and almost got blown off. F**k, what a night, and what a shit of a ride home!!

hey hey hey... settle down... Sounds like you just need to move somewhere less windy... All you have to do is analyse your crash, see whay you could have done to possibly avoid it, and learn from it...

I had similar thoughts when i had over 7 crashes and blew up a RGV250 and a TLR1000R all in a short space of time... I thought "Why am i doing this???" Then i would go on a nice open road ride, or go to the track, and it would all come back to me...

Yeah, dont be too hasty in giving up, although Wellington's weather is not always the best for building up your confidence. But riding in Wellington will always mean you are always going to get wet or blown around every other day, so the only way is just to get out there and do it.

If you ride to work/school etc everyday, just try to figure out where the big gusts usually are and which parts of town are a problem. That way you can alter your route to avoid them.
For example, I used to hate waiting at the intersection around by the railway station (outside ferrymans) on a windy day, so would just go around the otherway and head down thorndon quay instead.

Please tell me you are not serious, this is just a little bit of difficulty str8, dont throw the baby out with the bathwater girl. I agree dont be hasty, but dont allow yourself to be scared off from something you enjoy so much either. As others have said here, sometimes the wise option is to just take the bus, not give up altogether.
Stay positive and cheer up, it will get better.

Cheers for the encouragment guys! Like I say Im gonna give it a bit more thought. Unfortunately in my 1 year of riding I have managed to write off one bike (1 year ago last week) then I got my new bike and 2 weeks later and was blown into a grass bank in the Wairarapa. I finally got my confidence back after that spill but have since had a car in front of me hit a car that changed lanes on top of it, that car somehow managed to bounce back and hit my bike even though I had stopped a good 2 or so metres behind because I had seen what was going to happen. I have had a taxi driver open its door on me on a skinny road while a 4WD was coming straight for me so I hit the taxi door. I have had an old man who had wandered of from his resthome walk out in front of my bike at night and I hit him and only narrowly avoided his head. But manged to break his pelvis and arm... I have had a 4WD change lanes right on top of me and I had to ride up onto the footpath to avoid being crushed. I cant even remember the amount of times I have manged to stop so that I didnt crash into a car pulling out infront of me or changing lanes on top of me... Bleh, I may just be being emotional but to be honest Im wondering if these are all just signs that I should not be on a bike...
