I haven't done the bike one, but it's just an extended version of the restricted test, and you get to go for a bit of a blat over the motorway out to green island and back nothing to difficult

do they ask you questions afterwards, about hazards etc like the car licence test?
or is it literally just an extended version of the restricted bike test.

Look at the ltsa webiste, they have what's in the test. I believe it's similar to the car test - hazard identification etc.

I've passed two learners, two restricted tests and a car full with no problems. If you can drive sensibly you should be fine. It helps to practice going through an intersection and the like and pulling over and reciting all the potential hazards (remember double yellows, intersections, parked cars, oncoming cars etc).

I did full on the car last month so I think I should be fine with detecting hazards etc,. Its just the crapy weather that we have here, worries me a bit, icey roads etc... rain,. Well I really hope it will be similar to the car one anyway. Do you guys reckon they would shorten the whole test up cause of the conditions or they just let me freeze my but for 40 minutes? I mean they gonna follow me in a warm car,.

When i did mine, i had get back on a 250, i had been riding a 600 for about 7-8 months, the test was ment to be an hour but i was told to go back to start point after 1/2 hour, one of two things, either i passed or failed. She asked me '' what bike do you normally ride''?... ummmmmmmmm a yamaha, didnt say what size. Its was a pass, all i can say is watch your speed, they wont care what the weather is like cos' its your full, book early, i did it at 7.30am, less traffic, well in Warkworth anyway.....

Good idea but 7.30am in the morning down here is out of the question at the moment. The ice here is bad enough with a car or truck let alone pushing our luck on a bike. The cops aren’t silly and I’d like to think they would have the brains not to let you ride in the ice unless you were lucky enough to strike a morning with no ice. See if you can get a lone of some good riding gear, or hire some. You will have enough to think about without having to be concerned about the cold as well.

I did my full test in Dunedin, only it was about 420 months ago. I had to ride once around Moray Place, along Princes St, up the hill past Speights Brewery, stop and do a footbrake start on the hill, around the back of OBHS, then back down to Moray Place. All very easy, and with a bike cop as the testing officer following me.

You'll have no trouble if you just ride sensibly and watch for other traffic and any hazards.
    Time to ride

Blurdy hell, they was tough down south. My tester stayed comfortably in his office , watched me through the door, never even started the Saint. Up the hill, U turn half way up, feet up.Back down, figure 8 in the car park, here 'y go don't let me catch y' speeding (doubles up cackling with laughter, yeah yeah, it's a BSA Bantam, I'll have y'know that I tuned that Bantam till it did 60mph through our private standing quarter mile, which was 10mph more than the then speed limit. So nyah nyah to you too )

Yea, that is true. I did all my car tests around 9ish, so there was not too busy on the roads. But it's dark till 8ish now, and it's ice on the streets that worries me, so I'm booked at 10, hopefuly it'll dry by then. Although that motorway to Mosgiel stays icy longer, so.... Well I'm tryin to stay possitive and have eyes on the back of my head all the time now, after a guy pulled in front of me at the intersection yesterday and had to do emergency braking. Almost got a heart attack,.!! Not a good sign if you're trying to stay calm and possitive before the test. Grr.!

And yes about the proper gear, still have the one I used for Brass Mnkey, so I should be warm enough to do the riding.

He was probably turned on by the mustachios. Y'reckon he'll still be there, in the job? I know, I know, but news travels slowly way down there , 'tis possible that they haven't caught up with the changes yet.
