Aha - But I HAVE got their Registration, name, address, email address, phone number AND the number of a witness. Only tricky thing is incident was 24th May - I was trying to comply with the whole 24hrs rule at the time. Surely they'll chase me out the door for going in 2 months too late?

Ooops, should've re-read your earlier post! Always worth a try. I usually ask for traffic branch 1st up, let's the public servant on the counter know that you're serious. Hope you have some luck.

Well, the cops were WAY out of line refusing to accept information of an injury accident, when you attempted to report it as required by law.

So go in explain you tried with 24 hours and got told to piss off. And now you want to report it AGAIN. If you get any aggro start mentioning Police Complaints Authority.

Yeah, I was kinda out of my titties on prescribed painkillers at the time and couldn't be arsed arguing - just thought - they're kiwis, they work for the police - they know the law here better than I do. Next time will be more beligerent.

Getting back on to the topic though - while name and address is readily available for any joe off the steet with a note of your registration plate it's probably best to try to get out of the way - some people can hold a grudge and will get you any way they can - often a long time after the incident (I know I do - I never get someone back when they are expecting it - it lacks real effect!)

Of course there is!! If you run a gun shop and someone attacks you with a machete, justified violence is to shoot the dick! And if someone breaks into your home and attempts to rape your wife you're be fully justified in kicking his head in.

It's only PC police in the labour party who live in balls of cotten wool that spout nonsense like "there's no such thing as justified violence". Would you like to be living under the Nazis? Or Socialist USSR? or any other dictatorship that's trie to take over the world, but was repulsed by justified violence?

Don't be ridiculous, of course there is! If someone tries to hit my wife or family, I am justified in using violence to protect them. If someone tries to kill me or do me serious injury on my bike, I am justified in defending myself vigourously.
I am not condoning violent behaviour for the hell of it, but if it is defence of life and property, go for it and make a good job of it.

Depends how close, how fast, and how scared.

Oh, and if I manage to find some really hard armoured gloves.
