I can't help I'm afraid, and I think that size (16") is fairly rare.

The advice given by other posters is sensible, and you would do well to heed it.

However, perhaps unlike some, I remember being young. And poor. And what one does when young and poor is often predicated by what is possible not what is desireable.

You imply that you have enough for rego and warrant, but not a tyre. Perhaps it would be better to apply the funds to a tyre and wof, and let the rego slide for a few months (rego it a day or so before the warrant expires, that gives you the longest term for your dollar). Provided you are "clean" otherwise , a cop is prolly not going to get to be too arsed about an expired rego, if the bike is roadworthy with a wof.

Or, there is a 130/80 x 16 on Tradme now for $15.which would probably fit.

I ain't gonna say much other than ask you to think about this:

    You choose one:
    1. Park your bike an save for the required riding gear (whatever that may be; tyres, leathers, back protector etc etc)

    or

    2. Take the risk, ride anyway, someone else's mistake causes you to crash but you pay with your life.

How would your Mum feel not having you around??

I've only met you once, don't let it be the last. Think about it mate.

    Take care

i'm sorry, but if my 14 year old can walk into countdown and get a part time job that pays him $100 a week, then so can you.

buy a tyre. don't ask someone to lend you the one THEY paid for, especially for a false pretence. if you can't afford it, put the bike's rego on hold, and don't ride it til you can afford it.

there's a difference between asking for genuine assistance, and being a bludger - which one are you?

riding with dodgy tyres is false economy

if you can drop your bike and do less damage than the cost of a tyre you are doing well

Dunno about false - it's certainly true that I've saved myself a fair bit of money by not putting a new one on.Thing is,I'm not stupid - I know my tyre is worn, and ride acordingly.

Main thing with worn tyres, until you get down to the level where canvas is starting to show is (a) the little cuts (sipes ?) that channel water away become erased an inefficient ; (b) the tyre profile becomes "deformed", flattened.

Neither of these apply to knobblies, which do not have sipes, and have a different profile. And anyone riding knobblies on the seal is probably going to have the skills and experience to handle things.

Firstly I have heaps of tread on the out side, just on the middle its a bit low.

Secondly im not a road racer like alot of you guys are.

Thirdly, Ive been riding on it for ages and I havnt even come close to losing, sure the back has stepped out once or twice - in the wet but belive it or not I can actually ride so its no big deal....

Fourthly If I get the tyre I can get the wof (in a few weeks when I actually have money)then after two more weeks get the rego, but there is no way I can afford to get a tyre + rego + wof in the next payday. I Know you all are saftey concered sheep, but you must look at the facts, I don't enjoy going fast around corners, I can ride and controll it.

I know ideally that a new tyre would be great and i'll get one asap. But atm its not dangerous to be riding on it, I just cant afford the fines.

Also how long does your rego last after it expires? ive already been expires almost 3 months...
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

I totally agree with Jantar- you own a bike that not so long ago was the fastest 2 wheeled thing on the road.Performance comes at a cost- such a machine is going to go through tyres, sprockets and chains pretty quickly. If you can't afford the price of ownership then maybe you should trade down to something more sedate.

I had the same issue as you not so long ago, and I seriously considered selling my bike. I got by by buying* tyres from a rental company. Give that a go.

Bike wreckers are full of smashed up bikes with dodgy tyres...

*(fuck that looks weird when its typed out:spudwhat: )
