Someone esle with sense thank you. People whom take shortcuts on safety are less likely to care what happens to them or other road users. I mean how can you just 'Borrow' a tyre? That surely means the old one is intended to be put back on straight afterwards doesn't it ? No wonder members get so annoyed with the antics of the minority whom ensure ACC and insurance costs will continue to rise for everyone. Is that so cool??

Though I am curious about one point. When you go for WOF's I thought you were suppose to have a current rego showing. Wouldn't that be logically part of ensuring that any MV is legally allowed to be used on the road once the WOF is issued. I am sure they checked this out when I got mine last because I was in the workshop and they asked me where it was displayed. In this case the member is saying he only needs a WOF at this case?? Perhaps he should registered it as a dead chook carrier as in my thread last week?

With all the holier than thou reponses I'm surprised some Christian minded biker hasn't already fronted up with a tyre.We are ready to dish out the words of advice, but no action....hollow words.

Funny that 'someone' deleted an earlier response of mine with some good advice on the matter. I am still keen to know if you need a Rego to get a WOF or is that up to the issuing shop? As to this thread? Course he meant it.

No, you don't need rego to get a WoF. 'Tis the other way round, you need a WoF to get rego.

Fourthly If I get the tyre I can get the wof (in a few weeks when I actually have money)then after two more weeks get the rego, but there is no way I can afford to get a tyre + rego + wof in the next payday. I Know you all are saftey concered sheep, but you must look at the facts, I don't enjoy going fast around corners, I can ride and controll it.

I know ideally that a new tyre would be great and i'll get one asap. But atm its not dangerous to be riding on it, I just cant afford the fines.

Also how long does your rego last after it expires? ive already been expires almost 3 months...
Your not Listening park your bike up for the few weeks it will take for you to afford tyre WOF and rego then enjoy being completly road leagal with no debts or fines TWAT

The key word is 'Borrow' . So you would encourage him to get a WOF and then replace the borrowed tyre with the one that kills him or others? I think that is certainly the work of the Great Deceiver and not a Christian. DOHHHH!

I wasnt the only one getting this impression was I ? There is at least one reply claiming they ride on worn tyres anyway but knowing this ride more carefully. I think a lot of us have all done this at some stage, including myself.

I brought my current bike with what appeared to be its original tyres and after riding it for several hundred kms discovered small cracks in the inside tread. I stopped riding her until I managed to save the $350 and get new rubber because the rubber is the most important part of any bike. I didn't mean to offend anyone but I am sure most readers are totally safety concerned and this sort of thing riles me big time. It just doesn't take that much to cause an accident.
