Arrow Help needed from experienced rider

hi this is going to sound dumb but!!
i was wondering if on the next thursday night ride or kb ride if someone older and or wiser would be willing to teach me some sense and saftey tips!

i was a cocky rider who thought he new it all until saturday in the rain i pulled out into a road from a driveway and my arse stepped out so far i could see my tail light! i went home and changed my boxers lol!

anyway point of the story i dont want to die off somthing stupid that some older fulla could just tell me!!

i would appreciate any tips or secrets right down to bike maintanence and someone to ride with
cheers for the time you took to read this

Look up 'Mentors' under the members list in the Senior members section and PM a mentor.

Alternatively I've booked myself onto the BRONZ RRRS course 20th August. Look up Ride Right Ride Safe in forums.

    All useful.

    Absobloddylutely!!!

The Kendogs have managed to get in one mentor session this winter and are looking forward to more when the weather becomes a bit better. It is sooooooo very worth it, the knowledge of some of the people on this site is outstanding!! Go for it mate.

The best advice I can give you is RRRS

As Paul says you've made the first step to wisdom - now you know what a slide under power or from cornering on a slippery surface feels like. Now you just have to master throttle control so that you feel in control and not out of control so that you know just how much throttle to use and that you have to button off instantly you feel the slide.

Practising sliding on a dirt bike on a slippery surface is a good way to learn this skill.
    Cheers

    Hey Race Me!!!!

There are a lot of experienced riders on the Thursday night ride who would be happy to spend some time with you. Off the top of my head the more experienced and level headed ones (most of the time) would be QkChk or Blackbuell.

Maybe send one of them a PM...

Easy to do, where I live we get a little ice build up just down from my driveway on a bit of a rise. With Supercorsa pro's it would step out really easy when I took off. Got to the point where 2nd gear was needed and a deft touch on the throttle. I now got some Pilot powers and cold grip is a hell of a lot better.
Im not professing to know it all, or even much for that matter
My driveway is fine gravel so I always give it a bit of throttle to get used to the feeling of a slide and the power delivery and touch required to save it.
Perhaps you could do the same, just be careful not to drop it (and not on my driveway).
Good on ya for speaking up
