I think they ought not either, but there's no explicit road markings. And people wanting to go down Queens Rd don't want to be in lane 2 , because then they risk getting hit by traffic coming out of Jellicoe Rd when they cross Lane 1 to get to Queens Rd. And there isn't room between Jellicoe Rd and Queens Rd to move over, and people coming out of the Burger King/Ten Pin Bowling area further back Ellerslie Highway don't have time in heavy traffic to get right across to the left .

Plus the left into Jellicoe Rd is TWO lanes. So if the left lane of those two is for traffic from Lane 1 on Ellerslie Highway, where does the traffic in lane 2 of Jellicoe Rd come from. So if you are coming down Ellerslie Highway , and want to turn into Jellicoe Rd, then into the supermarket car park (as a lot do), it's quite sensible to take lane 2 on Ellerslie Highway, which leads you into the right of the two lanes turning down Jellicoe Rd. But you have to cross in front of traffic in lane 1 of the roundabout going straight ahead to Queens Rd

Reality is the roundaboputs an impossible design. There're too many lanes (I think there are 26 lanes entering this roundabout !), and no space at all between the roads, they all come to an actual point at the roundabout. So you can't even signal, cos as soon as you are past the previous turn you are actually turning down your exit.

I'd just see a gap and go for it!
Reckon the Royal Oak one is worse!

Sorry Ixon i don't think i made myself clear...
I dont think the left hand lane should be going past jellicoe rd and the middle lane definitly is able to get off on the right hand lane of jellicoe.

Im not worried about either of them and certainly wouldn't change the way I go, I live near the Panmure one now and grew up near the royal oak one...the royal oak on is only two lanes though so less confusion about which lane you should be in but as the entries/exits are so much closer together you have to get in there a lot quicker

I miss the tree - it was the best Xmas tree in Auckland.Maru, the local cop told us we should be able to take it at 50mph...what happened to the days when the cops set the standard eh? 53 years next week I've been going through that roundabout, although it's a rare event if I go near it these days - and never seen an accident. If you do it everyday it works.....if you come across it for the first time it must be a nightmare.

But then traffic in the middle lane intending to go down Queens Rd gets collected by cars coming out of Jellice Rd , who assume that the oncoming vehicle in the middle lane is going down Lagoon Drive. And there's almost no time to signal after clearing Jellicoe Rd, before Queens Rd.

This is actually a hidden gem.

It's like motorcycling in general; it's more dangerous so we pay more attention.

On that note I think all corners should have a negative cambre.
