Pillion passengers

As someone said - able to sit securly on the bike and feet reaching the pegs.

My little man has been riding on the back of mike RF since he was 5... only occasionally, but I'm not happy to take him on the open road yet. He'd "probably" be ok, but "probably" isn't good enough for me.

WE work on the principle that before my kids go on the bike they must have good gear. I have seen fully leathered riders with kids on the back with a helmet and T shirt and shorts. How stupid is that?????? My kids have to have full road riding gear and be able to hang on and reach the pegs, its just common sense. Having said that I took my 10 year old to Hamilton and back and he fell asleep on the back. It was ok on the straights but when I leaned it over for a corner and then came back up he stayed leaning over. That was scary. I had to stop and feed him to wake him up. (oh yeh we were coming back up 22 as well so not many straights either) It was my fault it was too much for him that day, but I will not make that mistake again (heaps of parental guilt here)

I think there is some age limit as I actually asked a few years ago the very same question. Trouble was that was a while ago and I cant remember what it was:slap: . I do remember they didnt like the cycle helmet on the trip round the block to see Gran!

I wasn't making it up when I said there was no age limit. The only requirement is that the pillion must wear a securely fitting helmet and their feet must reach the pegs. If you don't believe me, flag down a cop.

If tehir feet don't reach the pegs it is perfectly legal to move the pegs or fit extra ones.

Yeh I would wear that any day. Comes with a self warming system and air bags, plus a special lubrication system to help you slide better when the going gets tight.
But like all protective clothing it will get old and saggy and will no longer fit properly causing lots of moaning so then you will need to replace it with the latest model on the market, leaving the old bag of gear at home gathering dust
