    Cool

    Nope never.......
Only time it gets checked it when it goes throu a WOF inspection.

Mind you it could be fun when I go for my next WOF check...
as I now have a new Rego number plate now...
but hopefully all the paperwork matches up...

VINs are checked every time you go for a WOF.

I would imagine you'd have to raise the suspicions of the constabulary to get checked. Or your WOF is ridiculously out of date. Or your bike matches one on a stolen list.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Switching plates. What an extraordinary idea. No-one would ever do that. Even if they had two bikes of the same model. (Really need to be the same colour, too BTW). Only one of which was regoed. Nah, never happen.

Never had anyone check the VIN, half the time even the WoF guys can't find it on a bike.

On an old bike, they don't always have a ViN plate, system uses the frame number instead. Which is usually unreadable under multiple layers of paint. And you have to take the tank off to read it.

Though I think I recall Mr Scumdog saying he checked them sometimes. But I think that would be looking for stolen vehicles.

Just recorded, they won't show us what the previously entered number was....it just comes up with chassis number incorrect. Most often the original data entry is incorrect so subsquent correct entrys are pinged as wrong. It soon goes into my mainframe ignore function.

    just curious

I have two bikes that look remarkably similar, except for the colour and engine size, with a bit of creativity I swapped some badges, the VIN plate and the rego plate and presto chango......, I suppose you would get busted if you got a cop who knows his bikes, does dispatch give a colour when they reply to a QV?

I'd be pretty surprised if they didn't, it's basic rego info.
