    Hm. Well, not to geneerate commercial quantities. But they were well familiar with electricity and its properties.

    In fact the name comes from the Greek λεκτρον (electron) "amber"). Thales of Miletus , circa 600BC wrote upon the subject and noted that he could use electricty to produce sparks. Which a lot of the time was more than Joe Lucas could manage.

    No . No televisions. Had they done so , they would no doubt have specialised in another Greek word - εἰρωνεία (eironeia). Which nicely brings the discussion back to the sub-topic we started out at. And provides a clue.
