Marvellous idea to get my grand-daughter into biking early

My wifes uncle did something similar but welded the baby seat to the pack rack, with an additional forward bracket, just bolted on and off in 2 mins. Solid as could be, safe and easy to swap off again, he also was able to change the size of the seat as they grew so it lasted them many years.
Congrats on the new addition, give our regards to mum too.

Just serious enough to go up and down the drive at walking speed so we can say she's a biker and to take the photos.

You're not the first.

A few months ago, pootling along SH16 , I passed a Yamaha chook chaser (XT225 I think, though I didn't take too much notice).

On the back, strapped somehow to what looked like a pack rack was a sort of baby seat thing, containing a baby. I'm no good at baby-aging, but I'd say well under one year. Small, anyway. EDIT: baby was wearing a wee helmet. And well wrapped up.

The seat arrangement looked well made and sensible. She (the rider - I assume a chick, though without any evidence), was going well and looked competant.

I don't see a problem.
