Stoney do you know what happened yet? You say he died in Masterton so was this an intersection crash or was it in fact out in the country it happened?

I can only agree with what everyone has said Bruce was a top bloke and will be greatly missed.

    RIP UncleB.

This was one of the great newbie ride Bruce organised http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/sh...ad.php?t=23838

Bruce in a rather eerie shot at the top of the hill in that set http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/at...9&d=1138506495
    Cheers

Christ.....I heard about the accident earlier today but I didn't know how serious it had been until I logged on just now.

I didn't know Uncle B but I've read many of his posts and losing him is going to leave such a gaping hole in many, many lives.

Rest in Peace Uncle B - my thoughts are with those who love you.

    A black weekend indeed

What terrible news. Unfortunately never met Bruce, but saw first hand what a good guy he was when he sacrificed his ride to collect his car and trailer and pick up someone elses broken down bike.

    Rest in peace mate.

    Holy Sheep Stuff!!

    RIP UncleB.

Condolences to your family and friends too.

As for questioning if I should continue to ride bikes? (And for those who are).

Well the way I see it, UncleB, loosebruce, and dss3 lived their lives on bikes, and would never dream of denying us the pleasure of riding in life. So I am sure they are still wanting us to ride now, and they will continue to ride with us.

Just take it easy for a while, and make sure your heads are clear.

I don't even know what I can say now. Bad enough with Bruce and Daryl, but this one hits hard ...

And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Thumbs down Such a sad loss

I have riden on many occasions with Bruce and he was a real inspiration right from my first group rides in Wellington.

He was always such a smooth, confident and controlled rider and someone who you would never see pulling a cringe-worthy maneuver. He was extremely competant but would always volunteer to be the tail rider if there were new riders in the group and never complained about it. Friendly to everyone and would help anyone who needed it. A great source of advice but only if the person wanted it. Generally awesome guy, the kind which is in the minority that give bikers a good name.

I cannot believe this has happened to Bruce of all people. RIP!

Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

My first KB ride – so nervous – I’d taken my L-plate off specially and had one practice run on the motorway before hand. My GN broke down on the way to Martinborough - Bruce reconnected the battery for me. Then on a Wednesday night ride – I ran the GN out of oil at Kaitoke. Bruce road off to Caltex Rimutake to buy me some engine oil.

Since then he’s given me heaps of advice and improved my confidence. Just last week I broke the gear level off my bike and Bruce made me a home made one out of a bolt and some garden hose.

    I will never forget.
