Looking for quiet st or cul de sac in AKL city

Hey Auckland riders, lookin for some advice. I live in the city (near cnr of K'rd and Ponsonby Rd) and I am looking for a quiet carpark or cul de sac to practise in. At the moment I am keeping to my block but the traffic can be quiet heavy and i can't always get up early to beat it. Does anyone know of streets, carparks around here that I can practise in, that I dont have to ride far to (as I have only just had my first road ride).

    Cheers in advance

    Cool

Foodtown car park on Williamson Ave.

Go into Grey Lynn Primary School as well...... and use the car park or the open concrete tennis court playing area.

Richmond Rd heading towards Sussex St on the right handside is a park with a nice roadway into it and good area to practise in as well.

Head over towards Pt Chev...... and use the back streets off Meola...... like Moa St etc....

Or else head over to Mt Eden and use some back streets there.

Ah - I now that area and it would be perfect, but I am a little way away and not yet confident enough to go that far. Thanks for the info

Might head down Richmond Rdand see what I can find down there. If I take all the back roads I should be OK. Thanks

The more you ride the better you get. Consider joining one of the 250 ride - on every fortnightly.

I'd suggest to just ride as opposed to attempt to babystep in carparks but that's just speaking from my own experience.

Just don't panic and keep your head about you when you stall. People can wait.

Remove your mufflers first though. Finn loves the sound of straight pipes on 250's.

Try the new Net ball complex car park off Morrin rd in St Johns. (behind Colin Maiden Park). Its usually always deserted with no public in sight. Good for fast-figure eights and apex practice. - Just follow my peg marks! *grins*

I might just go looking for that.

Decided the best way to learn is to get out on the back roads around ponsonby. Raining yesterday so thought better not attempt a ride, but today is lovely and

Keep ya all posted on how it goes.

Point Erin Carpark has a very poor surface with lots of loose gravel. If the gravel won't get you, the chicken bones will. Yes, the pools are open and South Auckland has moved in.

Why is it that as soon as the pools open, crime skyrockets in our area?

Always good to see keen learner bikers. If you want someone to show you some basics training, PM me. I live just around the corner.

    Have fun.

Something to do with the anti crime fighting powers of H2O - all very scientific and I'd hate to get into it.

Just remembered that I am not yet insured - Been reminded of what it would cost to crash into very spanky new car - will call insurance tomorrow and have this sorted. Once done, will send PM. Thanks
