    gsxr1000k2 vs zx12, roll ons

had a bit of a play with a mate of mine yesterday, roll on races
started out with top gear roll on from 100kmh
    then 5th gear from 100kmh
    then 4th gear from 100kmh
    then 3rd from 100kmh
    then 2nd from 70kmh
his bike (2005 kawasaki zx12) has a full yoshi exhaust, k&n and power commander
my bike (2002 suzuki gsxr1000) has full yoshi exhaust, yoshi cams, k&n and stock ecu
    both stock gearing
both of us are within 5kg of each other, around 80-85kg

    soooo, what do ya recon??
    who won what?

will let you know the results after i see a few educated guesses
    Regards, Allan.

ps. All testing was done under controlled conditions, on private closed roads.

Fuck I had a theory all worked out then convinced myself otherwise! I'll be interested to see the results though, out of curiosity.

From riding a ZX12R & owning a K3 I'd say it would be pretty close , may even say the GSXR could have done better in the top couple of gears , will be interested to see .

I would guess that the Zx12 would take the 2nd and 3rd race...loads of torque down there. In 4th and 5th it would not be very good..very low revs at that speed...cant wait to hear what happened..

6th, 5th, 4th: ZX-12R from a 100kmh bigger cubes results in more torque down low, and the GSX-R1000 has cams...

3rd and 2nd: GSX-R1000... Keen as to see results though...

what i'm more interested in is where you find these long straight sealed "Private closed" roads...

i would LOVE to get my hands on one. you could infact sell me a ticket. $200 for a day on your long straight private closed road. especially if its long enough to open a 1000 in top gear!
    gone.

So I think it's safe to assume you did ok, or you probably woulda shut up.
And the bigger engine should develop torque lower so I would say the Kawasaki in 5 & 6, the Suzi in the rest.

Have to go with the GSXR. ZX has more torque but it weighs a shit load more than the GSXR.

    the results are in

    ok guys
first of all, there was Bugger all in any of the wins, one bike length at the most.

6th gear from 100 - zx12 wins, by the biggest margin of any of the tests. one bike length at 260km/h (indicated). pulled pretty hard away from me in the first few seconds, then stayed the same distance up2 260.

5th gear from 100 - gsxr wins. wtf? wasn't expecting to get this one after getting pipped in top. maybe its the gearing differences? gsxr slowly pulled away for the first few seconds then stayed the same distance up to red line in 5th. only half a bike length in it.

4th gear from 100 - even. there was nothing in it! did it a few times with the same result. dead even right up to redline.

3rd gear from 100 - gsxr wins. not by bugger all. around half a bike length.

2nd gear - gsxr wins. by bugger all again. a few hundred mm at the most. prolly would have been more if it had a little less wheelspin.

    conclusion:
well, i dont really know what to conclude! The zx12 has more torque i guess, being a bigger donk, there was so little in it in all tests. I must say i was pretty happy with the results, i don't know how happy my mate was with my 2002 thou hanging with his 2005 1200! hehe.

next time we will video our "tests" for your viewing pleasure

    cheers, Allan.
