Let alone carry out repairs to one failed for excess smoke or noise, or failed power steering or brakes.

And what relevance does failure to pay a tax have on road safety? Should you be unable to start your car because you have not paid your income tax? Presumably the same principle would have to apply to unpaid Road User charges. What happens if the RUC runs out mid journey? Does the vehicle stop dead , then and there ?

I build mobile wireless data scanning all singing all dancing systems with the capabilities you describe for a living, and you are off your fucking tree if you think that's all it would cost to design build test implement and maintain a system like that.

It says you must not pass if it means you have to ride over a flush median strip. I assume that means it's fine if you go round the ends ... and I'd assumed the same applied to a traffic island. Unless perhaps it counts as 2 one-way roads.
But on what basis is it said that you may only pass on broken lines?

I can't find that in the road code. And one of the permitted passing pictures in the Road Code shows a car passing on solid white lines.
No, I can't see that one either.

I really don't like the way they stick in that big disclaimer that the Road Code is not the law. What on earth is the point in studying it, if we're required to know the various acts and regulations anyway?

I think it was you Ixion who mentioned the exemption from the 70k limit for a rider taking the 6R test - it's damn hard to find even googling the net, and it certainly isn't in my road code - but my testing officer confirmed it today.
